The developer-publisher team Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have made it clear that while fans eagerly anticipate more content, Space Marine 2 won’t transform into a “live-service game in its entirety”. They understand that most players prefer not to engage with community events that restrict access to cosmetic items, making it challenging to acquire them.
In a recent blog post (thanks to Eurogamer), the developer discusses their work in February, gets excited about the upcoming features in Patch 7, and addresses community feedback on past events that rewarded dedicated players with temporary wargear for extraordinary actions. While this concept is intriguing in principle, it unfortunately excluded less experienced players: they were left uninformed.
It appears that the Community Events, which we added as a method for obtaining cosmetic items, have been met with tepid responses. We’ve noticed several of you expressing feelings of FOMO related to these events. I want to clarify that our intention is not to turn Space Marine 2 into a comprehensive live-service game.
The developer guarantees that goods initially only accessible during special, time-limited events will eventually become accessible to all players, without specifying a particular deadline. Consequently, it becomes clear that the purpose behind these Community Events is to offer early access to items for dedicated players, rather than causing anxiety and stress for everyone.
