This summer, Nickelodeon will premiere a fresh, animated show called ‘Wylde Pak.’ The network has given us a sneak peek at what’s in store for this zany new family. Nickelodeon’s Intergalactic Shorts Program is their latest initiative to introduce novel voices and concepts onto the channel. This program has been in operation for over a decade, and it serves as a stepping stone for shorts that might be developed into full series. The Intergalactic Shorts Program has already achieved success with the debut of ‘Rock Paper Scissors,’ and now its second venture is making its way to our screens.
The animated series “Wild Pack,” co-created by Paul Watling (“The Tiger’s Apprentice”) and Kyle Marshall (“The Loud House”), has been selected for a full series after being showcased in the Intergalactic Shorts Program. This series, which tells the story of a mixed, multigenerational Korean American family embarking on what promises to be a series of zany adventures, will premiere later this Summer on Nickelodeon. For a sneak peek at “Wild Pack,” please watch the video above.
What Is Wylde Pak?
Wylde Pak, an upcoming 2D animated series, is the brainchild of Paul Watling (known for The Tiger’s Apprentice) and Kyle Marshall (recognized for The Loud House). Both serve as executive producers alongside Seonna Hong (famous for My Life as a Teenage Robot) and Conrad Vernon (acclaimed for Shrek). Claudia Spinelli, Senior Vice President, TV Series Animation at Nickelodeon, and Daniel Wineman, Vice President of Original Animation Development, oversaw its development and production. The series is set to premiere this Summer, though a specific release date has yet to be confirmed. Comprising 26 episodes for its first order, the show focuses on two half-siblings navigating life in a larger family.
The initial episode of the show hints at the chaotic nature of the Wylde-Pak family’s life, showcasing their struggles to find some tricky cookies at their local grocery store, Woori World. In “Wylde Pak”, Nikki Castillo, known from “K.C. Undercover”, plays Lily Pak, a 11-year-old who seems both competitive and full of fun, while Benjamin Plessala from “SpongeBob: Sponge on the Run” portrays Jack Wylde, Lily’s 13-year-old half-brother.
New actors join the voice cast to complete the family portrait: Ben Pronsky from “The Loud House” takes on the role of William Wylde, Lily’s and Jack’s father; Jee Young Han, known for her work in “Unprisoned”, portrays Min-Ju Pak, Lily’s mother and Jack’s stepmother; and Jean Yoon from “Kim’s Convenience” brings Halmoni, Min’s mother and the grandmother of both Lily and Jack, to life.
What Is Wylde Pak About?
In terms of the storyline for “Wylde Pak”, Nickelodeon describes the upcoming animated series like this: “In ‘Wylde Pak’, siblings Jack and Lily find themselves living together for the first time. They’re forced to step out of their comfort zones as they work on coexisting, manage new family dynamics, friendships, and a whole lot of chaos – all while helping run the family’s pet grooming and boarding business. With advice from their parents and grandmother, they’ll explore each other’s past lives, their shared identity, diverse culture, and the value of family.
Ramsey Naito, President of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, emphasized that Nickelodeon’s dedication to presenting tales reflecting the human journey, brimming with humor and excitement, remains unwavered as they introduce the fresh series Wylde Pak. The team is eager for viewers to get acquainted with this unique blended family, embodying the essence of a contemporary family navigating their surroundings while deepening their understanding of one another.
