Lalit Patidar broke a record for being different—and he’s embracing it.
18-year-old Lalit, hailing from India, has recently been recognized by Guinness World Records for having the hairiest face. The tally stands at an astonishing 201.72 hairs per square centimeter. This extraordinary individual is diagnosed with Hypertrichosis, a seldom seen condition characterized by excessive hair growth throughout the body, as defined by the National Institutes of Health. However, this unique feature has not deterred Lalit from accepting his identity and reveling in his remarkable achievement.
On his Instagram post dated March 10th, Lalit proudly announced his achievement by posting a photo of himself holding the Guinness certificate and snippets from the award ceremony. In the caption, he wrote, “I’m so proud of myself.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I find myself utterly astonished to be among an exclusive group – one of just 50 recorded instances since the Middle Ages, to be precise – holding this unique title. It’s hard for me to wrap my head around it, but here I am, breaking the record for a certain condition that continues to intrigue and fascinate me.
He expressed his astonishment during an interview with Guinness World Records on March 10th, admitting he was at a loss for words due to his immense joy and satisfaction in receiving this esteemed recognition.
Regarding his life living with his condition, Lalit shared that he had adapted his looks to fit in among his peers. Interestingly enough, they accepted and embraced him just the same.
He shared, “My initial school days weren’t great since others found me intimidating.” However, as they got to know me and began interacting with me, they realized we weren’t all that dissimilar.
On the surface, I may appear distinct, but my inner self remains unchanged. Occasionally, I encounter unkindness from others, yet such instances are few and far between. Mostly, individuals treat me kindly, and generally, people are good to me. It’s all about the person.
Even though the public’s backing isn’t always pleasant, Lalit acknowledged that his family stood by him at every stage.
He expressed that his family is incredibly helpful and always there for him on a daily basis. To illustrate this, he mentioned starting a YouTube channel to which his father and the entire family have lent their unwavering support in his recent endeavor.
When it came to the question of whether he would change his appearance, Lalit is against it.
“I like how I am,” he said. “I don’t want to change my look.”
