Scopely to acquire Niantic games business

Scopely, the company responsible for developing games like Stumble Guys, is set to acquire Niantic‘s game division, encompassing titles such as Pokemon GO, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now, along with their development teams. This deal, valued at $3.5 billion, will also see Niantic distributing an additional $350 million in cash. This announcement was made by Niantic itself.

According to Niantic’s statement in the announcement, Scopely, with its expertise in crafting remarkable live services, its strong track record of collaborating with the globe’s most renowned and cherished intellectual properties, and its dedication towards both player communities and game development teams, is an ideal match for their games. The Niantic team has ambitious plans for the future, which they will continue to develop as part of Scopely. This collaboration guarantees that our games will receive the sustained support necessary to become ‘everlasting games’ that will survive for future generations. Players can anticipate that the games, applications, services, and events they are familiar with will carry on receiving Scopely’s ongoing investment, driven by the very same teams who have always been responsible for creating these experiences.
