Chainsaw Man Reveals Denji’s Dark Doppelganger (And It’s Terrifying)

In my observation, Tatsuki Fujimoto has skillfully crafted some truly unsettling monsters for the world of “Chainsaw Man,” a realm where humans are often tormented by nightmarish creatures that could easily belong in Junji Ito’s oeuvre. The latest manga chapter has offered readers a long-awaited glimpse of the Chainsaw Man doppelganger, and it’s difficult to put into words how unsettling this dark twin is. While there are some resemblances to the Chainsaw Devil, its appearance surpasses the gruesome imagery associated with our shonen protagonist, Denji.

heads up: if you haven’t read the latest chapter (196) of Chainsaw Man manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, beware as we’ll be discussing spoilers ahead

the current chapter revolves around an enigmatic high school student, referred to as “transfer student.” Although her true identity is still a secret in the recent issue, many fans speculate that this peculiar girl could potentially be the long-awaited character called “Death Devil.” While it’s been suggested that the Death Devil would pose a significant challenge for Denji and Asa, Fujimoto has a knack for surprising us, so the appearance of the “big bad” might not turn out as many anticipate.

The Chainsaw Man Doppelganger Revealed

In this new setting, I find myself struggling to connect with my peers, hearing a fellow student’s unkind suggestion to prove my worth by “stomping ants.” However, another classmate tries to bridge the gap, and the Transfer Student replies ominously, expressing the power to liberate our class from their earthly struggles through death. But before she can take any action, the character resembling Chainsaw Man unexpectedly appears on the scene.

In the latter part of the “Chainsaw Man” comic series, the doppelganger of Denji has primarily been shown indirectly. Readers have glimpsed the double’s silhouette and observed its abilities, but we haven’t yet had a clear view of it. In a chilling scene, the doppelganger bears a resemblance to Denji’s devilish persona, sporting what seems like a “flesh cloak” and showing off every muscle. Despite Fujimoto’s history of creating unnerving characters, this adversary might prove to be the most disquieting yet.

What is The Chainsaw Man Double?

There remains much we don’t know about this latest villain, but here’s an idea: Given that in the gruesome world of shonen anime, concepts like chainsaws, war, famine, death, and blood can give rise to devils born out of humanity’s deepest fears, could it be possible that a devil tailor-made for Denji has surfaced? Might there now exist a “Chainsaw Man Devil,” intent on executing Denji’s mission in a chilling twist?

Currently, the anime still needs to catch up quite a bit to depict the ongoing events accurately. However, the next installment from Studio MAPPA will be the “Chainsaw Man Movie: The Reze Arc,” even though its official release date is not known yet. Here’s hoping we get to witness the animated return of Denji sooner than later!
