Since the finale of My Life with the Walter Boys aired in December 2023, eager fans have been anxiously awaiting another season. Now, there’s some positive news to share!
Filming for the second season of the drama series has now been completed, with the announcement that it would be returning for another season coming only days after the premiere on Netflix.
Drawing inspiration from the namesake Wattpad novel penned by Ali Novak, this series narrates the story of 15-year-old Jackie Howard portrayed by Nikki Rodriguez. A family calamity causes Jackie’s life to be transplanted from bustling New York City to the tranquil landscapes of rural Colorado.
Under the guardianship of Sarah Rafferty, who was her late mother’s close friend, Jackie persists in pursuing her ambition to attend Princeton University. Simultaneously, she finds herself caught up in a romantic predicament involving two brothers named Cole (Noah LaLonde) and Alex (Ashby Gentry).
Melanie Halsall, the creator and showrunner of “My Life with the Walter Boys”, expressed her immense excitement as she announced that the series has been renewed for another season, according to Variety.
We’ve been deeply touched by the affection and encouragement the audience has shown towards our series, and we’re eagerly looking forward to re-immersing ourselves in the realm of Silver Falls and exploring more about these characters.
In his remarks, executive producer Ed Glauser emphasized that the popular adage “‘many hands make light work,’ or equivalently ‘it takes a village,’ perfectly encapsulates the key factor behind the triumph of ‘My Life with the Walter Boys.’
Originally penned by Ali Novak, skillfully transformed for screen by Melanie Halsall, and superbly acted out by our talented cast, we’re delighted to carry on Jackie’s tale in the second season, all made possible by Netflix’s unwavering support.

By the set deadline, season 2 will introduce five fresh characters. Among them is Riele Downs from Bel-Air, who will portray Maria, a charming girl in Alex’s driving school class who shows romantic interest.
1) In the upcoming project, Carson MacCormac (known for Shazam!) is set to portray the role of a dashing elder character named Zach. Natalie Sharp from Wilderness has been added to the cast as B Hartford, a skilled rodeo competitor. Janet Kidder, recognized from Star Trek: Discovery, will take on the part of Joanne Wagner. Lastly, Jake Manley, famous for The Order, will embody Wylder Holt, a bronc rider.
Simultaneously, off-camera, Halsall executes the producer role together with Ed Glauser and Becky Hartman Edwards.
My Life with the Walter Boys season 2 plot speculation
The second season is expected to continue right where the first one ended, leaving us pondering over the question: Will Jackie choose between Cole and Alex?
Regarding this matter, the finale of the TV series’ first season took a slight detour from the novel’s conclusion as Jackie, portrayed by LaLonde, remained with Cole in the adaptation, instead of following the original ending where she did not stay with him.
Melanie Halsall, the creator, has clarified the choice, stating to Variety that “In the novel, she spends a considerable amount of time with Alex, but later they part ways, and it’s more or less an amicable separation.
Later, it was decided between her and Cole that they would reunite when she returned from New York. However, I made up my mind not to follow suit with that plan.
As a movie buff contemplating the character’s future, I mused that she likely wouldn’t end up with any of the boys – this independent, ambitious young lady is carving her own path in life, and romance doesn’t seem to be part of the equation at this point. That was one notion I had.
Halsall has also teased that season 2 is set to be “bigger and better”.
In each episode, there are large, complex set pieces, and we’ve grown more comfortable with our characters. The actors have truly grasped their roles now. Upon my return, I was eager to resume filming as I knew we had compelling narratives to share, which she expressed to Netflix.
Regarding Jackie’s upcoming season, she mentioned: “Jackie is struggling to find her place this time around. She isn’t intending to give up any part of herself, instead, she aims to ensure both aspects can peacefully cohabit.
