Octomom’s Shocking Reason for Not Suing Her IVF Doctor Revealed

In 2009, when Natalie “Nadya” Suleman brought into the world the first known surviving octuplets, she simultaneously created a completely fresh identity for herself.

In an exclusive chat with TopMob News, Suleman clarified a common portrayal about her, stating that the media-created image following the January 16 births of her children – Noah, Maliyah, Isaiah, Nariyah, Makai, Josiah, Jeremiah, and Jonah – was a “stereotype” or exaggerated version, which was quite different from her true personality.

At that particular moment, the Fullerton, California native, who is also mother to Elijah (23 years old), Amerah (22), Joshua (21), Aidan (19), and 18-year-old twins Caleb and Calyssa, asserted that due to the nation being in the midst of an economic recession, there was a “subconscious inclination among the populace to identify and blame a societal scapegoat.

A woman who is a single mother to fourteen children, receiving disability benefits due to her previous role as a psychiatric technician, perfectly matched the description.

Currently, I find myself reflecting on a different reality: “I wouldn’t have been the recipient of such misguided hostility.” However, in the late 2000s, I faced an unrelenting barrage of insults, intense scrutiny, and even death threats. In response, I took up a defensive stance, engaging in whatever activities were necessary to stay afloat—from participating in paid photoshoots, interviews, and even venturing into adult films, among other things.

And yet, she’d do it all again the exact same way. Mostly.

In her own words, she expressed that not suing Dr. Michael Kamrava, the medical professional who assisted in the in vitro fertilization of all 14 of her children, was probably her sole source of regret.

Suleman clarified to TopMob News, “I decided to go back for another try,” she said, explaining that due to her previous reproductive history, they had always transferred five to six embryos. Besides her twins, each cycle yielded what she termed as “singletons” (individual babies).

According to their previous agreement, Kamrava inserted more embryos than usual (well beyond the standard recommendation of two), and Suleman recalled, “My uterus began to contract forcefully,” she said, “and the doctor explained that all the embryos were expelled.” Despite being heavily sedated, the mother of 14 went on, “He proposed transferring the remaining six embryos that were in the petri dish.

Without fully understanding it, she put her signature on his contract without giving it a second glance, and as Suleman put it, “that was the turning point in my life, things shifted dramatically from thereon.

And if she could go back, she’d definitely try to propel herself onto a new path.

In an unexpected glare of attention that left her ill-prepared, Suleman admitted she hardly mounted any defense, as she felt besieged and questioned without warning. (On the other hand, Kamrava ultimately lost his medical license.)

She acknowledged that if she had sought legal assistance from the start, it would have provided her with protection as a mother.

And perhaps secure a financial windfall that would help support her outsized brood.

Instead, Suleman explained, “I found myself operating automatically, just going, going, going. At the same time, I was constantly tense and terrified due to the ongoing death threats and stalkers.

For quite some time, Suleman found himself in a constant “fight-or-flight” mode, but he identified as a fighter. Consequently, he continued to fight. He vowed that he would never cease his struggle for his family’s wellbeing.

Instead of avoiding it, she openly discussed the challenges in her six-part Lifetime documentary series titled Confessions of Octomom, which airs every Monday at 10 p.m.

She replied that there have been too many challenging moments and hardships to count when asked about her lowest point. During the production of the film, Suleman explained, she was urged to endure it. However, she had no desire to do so, as it was painful for her. Suleman, who was also an executive producer on the network’s movie based on real events titled “I Was Octomom: The Natalie Suleman Story“, took on this role.

However, it proved to be beneficial in the end. She believed that it was during these challenging times that we truly begin our healing process, by acknowledging and working through our painful emotions.

She’s encouraged her brood to follow suit.

Suleman conveyed that her children had gone through a traumatic experience similar to hers. She emphasized that the negative attention she received as a ‘target of worldwide criticism and judgment’ indirectly affected her kids as well.

Instead of attributing the healing solely to her emphasis on open, honest dialogue, she also believes that their involvement in the documentary series could potentially serve as a more effective remedy.

According to the previous therapist, her children desired that particular voice. They sought a podium where they could advocate for everyone, establish limits, and retell our story from their perspective.

Suleman emphasized that her grown-up kids should have the chance to narrate their authentic tale, discuss their personal experiences, and express their viewpoints. Consequently, they agreed to be filmed, she added.

She stated that people often question, “Why now? Are you seeking fame?” regarding her work with Lifetime. However, she clarified, “I’m not pursuing fame, but I don’t want falsehoods about me to persist and for the public to be misinformed. We have a right to share our genuine story. The public deserves the truth.

Considering her youngest child has just turned 16, Suleman thought, “This is an ideal moment.” “We’ve entered a fresh chapter in our lives,” he pondered. “Our children are grown now, and they’re eager to share the authentic tale that we’ve lived together.

In the past, a devoted single mother of fourteen children was merely striving to maintain her daily life. Continue reading to discover where Suleman’s story originated.
