The Perfect Couple season 2 is in the works at Netflix – but the cast will be different

It seems that the captivating Netflix mystery-drama series titled “The Perfect Couple” could potentially come back for another season. However, viewers might find it surprising that they may not recognize the same set of characters from the first season.

Instead, as reported by Variety, the streaming service is considering an adaptation of another novel in Elin Hilderbrand’s series set on Nantucket, with ‘The Perfect Couple’ being one of the four books in this series.

Coming next is Swan Song, the recently released and concluding part of the series (the physical copy won’t be available in the UK until June). This instalment is set to present another intriguing mystery for audiences to delve into.

The summary of the novel indicates that after spending 35 years in the role of Chief of Police on Nantucket, Ed Kapenash’s heart has become too weak to endure the pressure.

However, his retirement plans were abruptly disrupted as, with just three working days remaining, he received an unexpected phone call. Sadly, the Richardsons’ lavish 22-million-dollar summer residence had been engulfed in flames and destroyed.

The pair appear unharmed, as they were hosting a grand yacht party on the water. However, their trusted assistant is nowhere to be found.

In order to resolve this matter, the Chief must deal with local rumors for one last time, as a selfless act to serve the community he cares about deeply.

According to sources, Netflix plans to structure The Perfect Couple series as an anthology. This means that a fresh cast will be brought in for each new episode or season, while the main setting remains consistent, serving as the primary connection between stories.

As a devoted film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Joanna Calo, known for her stellar work on Beef, The Bear, and Hacks, is set to write and executive produce a potential new project. Interestingly, Nicole Kidman, Susanne Bier, Gail Berman, and Hend Baghdady have shown keen interest in reprising their roles as producers if the show gets the green light.

For now, it’s important to keep in mind that the news about The Perfect Couple season 2 might not be entirely accurate since Netflix hasn’t officially confirmed it yet. They have also chosen not to comment on the report.
