Miracle Survival: Woman Rescued After 6 Days Trapped in Car!

An Indiana woman is alive thanks to her quick thinking.

Approximately a week after Brieonna Cassell’s car plunged into a ditch in Newton County, Indiana, she managed to stay alive by soaking her sweatshirt in water and using it as a makeshift source of hydration until help arrived, according to her family’s account.

In a conversation with NBC Chicago (on March 11), her father, Delmar Caldwell, explained that she would throw her hoodie as if she were fishing, and then return it to sip water from it.

On March 6th, as I was driving just a stone’s throw away from the Newton County landfill, it seems that I may have dozed off unintentionally, according to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office. My vehicle then swerved off the road and ended up in an embankment.

Although the wreckage wasn’t noticeable from the road, according to authorities, a passerby eventually spotted her car while working for a drainage company using a tractor. The sheriff’s office shared this information in a Facebook post. Later on, when Johnny Martinez called his supervisor Jeremy Vanderwall, they both went to inspect the car. They found Brieonna was still conscious and able to speak.

Regarding her actions after the accident, Aaron Cassell shared that Brieonna, who suffered multiple compound fractures in her arms, legs, and wrists, immediately recognized the necessity of obtaining a water supply.

According to his statement, she intentionally moved the car into reverse, allowing it to slide backward down the embankment towards the water. This was apparently done so that she could stretch out her sweatshirt to reach a certain point.

The sheriff’s department shared the latest news about Brieonna. She was transported to a local hospital, and her mother, Kim Brown, gave consent for this action.

According to a March 12 Facebook update, Bri has been listed in a stable state. Today, she’s due for surgery because her medical team has some worries about the healing process in her legs. Although her path to recovery looks positive, it’s going to be a lengthy journey ahead.

I, too, would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to every responder and those who have shared their thoughts and concerns. Your kindness and support mean a great deal to me.

While Brieonna is on the mend following her injuries such as fractured ribs and leg infections, her mother couldn’t help but express admiration for her daughter’s remarkable strength and resilience.

She shared with ABC Chicago that she did everything within her means to stay alive. I’m overjoyed that she was found safe, and I can hardly wait to give her a warm embrace and a loving kiss.
