Over two years after its initial reveal, Konami has finally revealed all details about Silent Hill F for PS5, marking a brand-new main installment in the series since 2012’s Silent Hill Downpour. Notably, this game will break tradition by being set in Japan instead of the typical American town of Silent Hill. A specific release date or timeframe has yet to be announced, but you can watch the new trailer above for a sneak peek.
The story unfolds in the secluded Japanese town of Ebisugaoka during the 1960s, where a dense fog suddenly descends, turning Hinako’s peaceful home into a chilling nightmare. As the town falls eerily quiet and the fog thickens, Hinako bravely explores the twisted, labyrinthine streets of Ebisugaoka, using her wit to solve intricate puzzles and facing off against terrifying creatures to stay alive.

Despite a new environment, Konami’s lead developers confirmed during a Silent Hill Transmission live stream that this remains the classic Silent Hill fans have cherished for years. The game will feature a familiar mix of combat, puzzle-solving, and exploration. Notably, Ryukishi07, known for Higurashi When They Cry, is penning the story, while Akira Yamaoka is crafting the soundtrack. The PS Store now allows you to add it to your wishlist.
In a shift from their past releases, representatives at Konami aim to make Silent Hill F authentically Japanese in its setting, distancing themselves slightly from the Western-leaning themes that characterized some previous installments like Downpour and Silent Hill Homecoming.
