Pokemon Legends: Z-A Shocks Fans with Violent Content

When Pokemon Legends: Z-A launches later this year on Nintendo Switch (and potentially also on the Nintendo Switch 2), it’s set to introduce a significant and surprising shift that distinguishes it from previous games in the core Pokemon series, such as Pokemon Legends: Arceus, all the way back to the original games like Pokemon Red and Green, up to the most recent ones like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Unlike its predecessors, which have always been rated E for everyone, Pokemon Legends: Z-A will not carry this rating. This change applies to every game within the core series, including Pokemon Emerald, Sun, Moon, and more.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A won’t receive a T for Teen rating like Palworld, which introduced guns and weapons into the classic Pokemon formula. Instead, it will carry an E10+ (Everyone 10 and up) rating when released. Interestingly, only three other Pokemon games have held this rating: Pokemon Rumble, Pokemon Rumble Blast, and Pokemon Rumble World.
