The entertainment publication Variety reports that Jason Ritter has been cast in the series alongside Garret Dillahunt. Ritter is set to play Billy Macon, William Macon’s son, who appears to have connections to a significant Green Lantern villain. Billy is described as a handsome and charming character who follows his father’s orders, using his family’s reputation to fuel his small-town pride, and he stands to lose everything if things don’t go according to plan.
Currently, Ritter is co-starring with Kathy Bates in the newly extended second season of CBS’s hit remake. Additionally, he will be featured in the upcoming second season of Poker Face on Peacock alongside Natasha Leone. Most notably, Ritter gained recognition for his performances in shows like Joan of Arcadia and Parenthood, earning an Emmy nomination for his acting work.
Back in June 2024, the production for Lanterns was officially approved for eight episodes. Originally intended as a Max Original, it eventually moved to HBO. Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King are penning the series and serving as executive producers. This show is also part of James Gunn’s initiative with DC Studios, which began with the launch of Creature Commandos.
