Heartbreak on Coronation Street: Fan-Favourite Faces Terminal Illness and Funeral Plans!

**Warning: Spoilers for Coronation Street ahead**

There are upsetting scenes ahead on Coronation Street next week as a tough conversation between sisters Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) and Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh) becomes all too much.

After returning to Weatherfield, Julie brought joy to the residents on the cobbles. However, she was carrying a heartbreaking secret: she had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. At first, Julie wanted to keep her diagnosis hidden from Eileen, but eventually, the truth came to light.

In the following sequences, Debbie Webster (played by Sue Devaney) heads to Street Cars, seeking her reservation details. However, when Eileen fails to locate it, Debbie becomes increasingly agitated.

After that, Eileen offers an apology, explaining that she’s been overwhelmed due to Julie’s recent cancer diagnosis. This news leaves Brian Packham, also known as Peter Gunn, taken aback.

As the week continues, Julie tells Eileen and Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) that she wants to start organising her funeral, but things get too much for Eileen and she walks out.

The plot line seems connected to Sue Cleaver leaving ITV soap after 25 years, as the specifics of her departure are still unclear, Julie’s illness might play a role in it.

Confirming the news back in January in an interview with The Sun on Sunday, Cleaver said: “I’ve had 25 privileged years of working on Coronation Street.

“The door is still firmly open but as I reached my 60th year, I decided it was time to embrace change, look for new adventures and live fearlessly.”
