Sean Lowe Violently Attacked by His Rescue Dog

Sean Lowe is on the mend after a harrowing experience with his rescue dog.

The Bachelor alum was hospitalized twice over the course of 12 hours after Moose—a Boxer he adopted almost three months ago—violently attacked him on two separate occasions.

He started off by saying that our family has experienced a highly distressing event this past weekend in a video uploaded on Instagram on the 17th of March. They are deeply affected and saddened by what happened. Their wife, Catherine Giudici, was sitting beside him, visibly emotional.

Sean said the first attack happened on March 13, when he and some friends were barbecuing in the backyard and the smoke alarm inside his house went off. As the 41-year-old went to waft the smoke away with a dish rag, Moose started nipping at his hands and feet “really aggressively.”

When Sean firmly reprimanded Moose, that’s when it seemed like a switch got flipped, causing the dog to become incredibly aggressive, almost ferocious.

As a lifestyle expert, I shared my recent encounter: A dog lunged at me, baring its teeth, and without hesitation, it charged towards me. I could feel its sharp teeth sinking into my arm as it shredded through my flesh. At this moment, every ounce of energy coursed through my veins as I fought to keep the dog at bay.

Luckily, they managed to get Moose into the backyard, but as per Sean’s account, his dog had already inflicted a deep wound on him by then.

He remembered seeing blood spurting out, thank goodness his friends were present so they could quickly take him to the emergency room (ER).

Sean ultimately received stitches on “five or six different places” across his arm from the incident—but that was not the end of the ordeal. When he returned home to arrange for his and Catherine’s kids Samuel, 7, Isaiah, 6, and Mia, 5, to stay as his parents’ place as he dealt with the fallout, Moose attacked for a second time.

“We’re getting the kids in the car,” Sean remembered, “and I see Moose running out the front door.”

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d put it this way: During an encounter with Moose, he swiftly headed towards me and, without warning, launched another vicious attack.

“He’s ripped my arm open,” Sean continued. “I’m fighting for my life here. I feel like if this dog gets up, he is going to kill me.”

He added, “It took everything I had to control this dog—and I’m 220 pounds. If it were anyone else, he would have killed my children or my wife, but I was able to hold him for 10 minutes until the cops came.”

Sean said the second attack “resulted in another trip to the emergency room and more stitches.” However, he noted, “I don’t blame Moose a bit.”

“It’s clear he experienced a lot of trauma before we got him and had something neurologically wrong with him,” Sean shared, explaining how Moose was “just an affectionate, lovable Boxer” before the attacks. “There was something about that smoke alarm that flipped this switch in him.”

And while the family is heartbroken over what transpired, Sean is “just super grateful it was me and it was not my kids or my wife.” He’s currently working with animal control and a no-kill shelter to figure out the best option for Moose since the dog can no longer be kept at their home.

Sean mentioned that he will always have scars on his arms, but he can manage to live with it just fine. He added that his wife Catherine might occasionally notice him flinching due to past trauma. From a mental health standpoint, he believes he’ll be alright in the long run.

“As a dad you’ve got two choices: be a horsey in uncomfortable, stuffy, work clothes,” Sean Lowe wrote on Instagram in 2022. “OR be a horsey in @mizzenandmain’s comfy, lightweight, moisture wicking, stretchable clothes that work just as well with 2 cowboys and a cowgirl on your back as they do in the office.”

Discuss an amazing match! Catherine and Sean looked identical as they dressed their children in matching OshKosh B’gosh overalls.

Little Samuel looks adorable as he’s cuddled between his oh-so loving mom and dad.

The reality TV stars enjoyed an afternoon at their church’s Halloween celebration with Samuel.

Happy New Year! The trio rang in 2018 in style.

“The Big Lowe-bowski,” Catherine joked on this Halloween Instagram. “The Dude did not abide.”

He’s fearless! Samuel was all smiles as his proud pops threw him into the air.
