Olivia Culpo is recounting the difficulties of her pregnancy journey.
One week following the news that the ex-Miss Universe and her spouse, Christian McCaffrey, are anticipating a child, she posted a “memory box” video, outlining a blood clot incident she experienced early in her pregnancy.
In a video posted on TikTok on March 18th, Olivia explained that she had a condition called subchorionic hematoma, which is essentially a clot in the uterus causing bleeding. She visited the doctor and was overjoyed to learn that her baby’s heartbeat was still present. However, the doctor advised her not to travel due to her current health situation.
Beyond receiving progesterone due to a subchorionic hematoma (a condition where blood accumulates beneath the membrane linking the expectant person’s uterus to their baby’s amniotic sac, as explained by the Cleveland Clinic), the model was instructed to take it easy and rest.
She explained, “I’ve been confined to my bed for the past two weeks now. Prior to this, I battled with pneumonia. Consequently, I was unwell for another two weeks before that. To sum it up, I’ve effectively been on bed rest for approximately four weeks in total.
Following the advice of her physician, Olivia – newlywed since June when she wed Christian – expressed her heartfelt thanks that things were progressing smoothly, and offered comforting words for those facing similar situations.

If you find yourself experiencing heavy bleeding in your first trimester, please don’t jump to the worst conclusions. Reach out to your doctor and explore the possibility of progesterone suppositories. I truly believe that it was only because of these that I am still able to carry my baby.
She expressed, “If anyone is experiencing any phase of pregnancy and feels isolated, receiving unwanted news, or questioning why this is happening to them, I am sending my prayers. I care deeply for everyone navigating their maternity journey.
