Doctor Doom’s Shocking Reason for Saving the World: Is It Glory or Truth?

In the captivating Marvel event titled “One World Under Doom“, readers are treated to one of the most intriguing stories in years. The narrative unfolds with Doctor Doom cleverly positioning himself as the Sorcerer Supreme, subsequently seizing control over the world. Rather than a violent takeover, global leaders willingly surrender their power, establishing a worldwide empire known as Latveria. Contrary to expectations, Doom aims to improve the world, a goal that the Fantastic Four and the Avengers find highly suspicious. This suspicion sets the stage for “One World Under Doom” #2, penned by Ryan North and R.B. Silva. The comic opens with the Fantastic Four grappling with how to handle Doom’s rule. Valeria Richards, under the guise of wanting to visit a friend, actually plans to meet with Doom instead.

In a unique bond akin to family ties, Doom and Valeria share an unusual level of trust that surpasses their confidence in others. While Valeria seeks clarity regarding Doom’s actions and intentions, namely his decision to conquer the world, this quest propels them on a global journey together, with Doom intending to reveal his reasons to his cherished goddaughter. Consequently, hints are subtly dropped about the hidden motivations driving Doom’s actions behind the curtain of public perception.

Doctor Doom Is Saving the World for the Most Doctor Doom Reason Ever

In a small city in Canada, Doom and Valeria engage in dialogue. Doom requests that Valeria explain the merits of democracy to him, to which she obliges by discussing its superiority over anarchy. She argues that democracy provides a balance between individual rights and collective needs, whereas anarchy prioritizes personal interests above all else. Doom acknowledges her points initially, but then counters by suggesting that global politics can also be seen as anarchic, with nations often putting their own interests before those of others, leading to unpredictable outcomes. He questions why Valeria advocates against individual anarchy but supports it on a larger scale, the international stage.

Valeria has an extensive understanding of Doom, yet refuses the notion; she believes Doom’s actions are not entirely selfless. When Doom explains his motives, he mentions it’s for glory, which is why he acts in any given situation. He assures Valeria that this demonstrates his sincerity. However, before Valeria can complete the word, Doom interrupts and denies any ties to fascism. According to him, his new order isn’t based on falsehoods; instead, it rests upon truth—that he alone is fit to govern the world, and that he is the only one capable of bringing order amidst global chaos. Valeria questions the validity of this claim, stating she cannot align with his perspective. Still, Doom asks her to have faith in him as he intends to substantiate every word he speaks.

Doctor Doom Is Trying to Prove the Truth, But Can He be Trusted?

It’s not shocking that Doom’s reason for his actions has been unveiled; after all, Doctor Doom has always pursued glory since he claimed his throne. It makes sense that he would aim to conquer the world to boost his own reputation. However, his justification – that his desire for glory makes him trustworthy – doesn’t hold much water, and Valeria is correct in questioning it. After all, Doom has a history of doing whatever he does for personal gain, and more often than not, these actions have led to disastrous results. Doom’s pledge to prove himself to Valeria adds an element of intrigue, but even that doesn’t make his motive appear selfless.

Although Doom has always been truthful towards Valeria, it’s not his honesty that causes concern, but rather his actions. Even though Doom might be straightforward about his motives, it doesn’t guarantee a favorable outcome for the plan he’s devising. There appears to be more at play than what initially meets the eye, and even Valeria isn’t completely convinced by her godfather’s words.
