Death end re;Quest Code Z launches May 13 in the west

The roguelike RPG titled “Death end re;Quest Code Z” is set to debut for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in the western region on May 13th. However, only the physical version will be accessible in North America at that time, with Europeans having to wait until June 27th to obtain it. This announcement comes from publisher Idea Factory International.

Alongside the regular version, you can purchase a Limited Edition for $89.99 / £84.99/ €89.99. This special edition comes with additional items such as an art book with 92 pages, a CD containing a 32-track soundtrack, a Sayaka mousepad, an exclusive trading card, and a collector’s box to hold it all together.

As a gaming enthusiast, I eagerly awaited the global release of “Death end re;Quest Code Z” on September 19, 2024. Unfortunately, the Switch version, which I had been looking forward to, was eventually scrapped due to non-compliance with Nintendo’s guidelines.

Here is an overview of the game, via Idea Factory International:

What is the Death end re;Quest series?

An exhilarating role-playing game takes you on an adventure through a polluted world teeming with peril at every step. In this dangerous realm, a band of youthful protagonists face enigmas and hazards, all while the specter of death looms ominously. This heart-stopping experience is crafted by Makoto Kedouin, a renowned author known for his gripping work on Corpse Party.

Initially, the first game in the Death end re;Quest series debuted on PlayStation 4 in Japan during 2018, while it became available in North America and Europe in 2019. Subsequently, its follow-up, Death end re;Quest 2, made its way onto PlayStation 4 consoles in all three regions – Japan, North America, and Europe – back in 2020.

Story

Step into a tale of parallel universes…

In World DE-1, a planet that resembles Earth during the 2000s, Iris was born. Her arrival sparked a chain of unfortunate events, which eventually found resolution through the diligent work of Arata Mizunashi and his colleagues as they untangled the intricate knots of fate.

After mending their relationships, Iris duplicated World DE-1 and renamed it World DE-1.5. In this place, quarrels were replaced by camaraderie as everyone found their role, contributing to a harmonious society. However, tranquility is once again under siege due to a fresh predicament…

A enigmatic individual has stepped into the mix, commanding a team that resembles the old guard of heroes from across the globe. The latest heroine, Sayaka Hiwatari, tackles the escalating turmoil, as it becomes increasingly challenging to tell allies apart from adversaries.

And so the battle with another world enters a new phase…
