At long last, AnimeJapan 2025 has provided fans with an update on the production, unveiling a brand new trailer that offers a tantalizing glimpse of Season 2. The trailer suggests that Season 2 might even surpass the excellence of the first season.
The official English account for Kaiju No. 8’s anime on platform X recently posted a sneak peek of Season 2’s trailer, first shown at AnimeJapan 2025. Although the specific release date and episode count are still undisclosed, the announcement promises several thrilling advancements in Season 2. Our protagonist Kafka will encounter fresh obstacles, more powerful kaiju, and an unexpected new Captain – none other than Gen Narumi, who plays a significant role in the newly released trailer as well.

Kaiju No. 8 Hypes Season 2 and Its New Star Captain
The opening scene of the latest trailer shows Mina surveying a damaged environment while Reno and Iharu discuss Kafka. They confidently believe that Kafka will rise from the dead, which aligns with the end of Season 1, where Kafka was recuperating after his battle wounds against Isao and was under the care of the Defense Force following the delay in his execution. This is symbolized by Kafka stirring in a small crib.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement as the trailer for Kaiju No. 8’s second season unfolds! The spotlight then shifts to none other than Gen Narumi, nicknamed “Japan’s Strongest Anti-Kaiju Combatant,” but don’t let that title fool you. Contrary to expectations, we find him holed up in his room, pulling an all-nighter on his video games!
In the teaser, it’s clear that this season will see Kafka joining the First Division under Narumi’s command. And for those of us who can’t get enough of these quirky characters, we’re in for a treat as both Narumi and Kafka’s unique personalities are on full display.
From the look of it, Gen Narumi is set to become the star of Season 2, much like Hoshina was in the first season. And I must say, I’m relieved that the creators have done justice to his character design!
