Titled “Virgin Punk: Clockwork Girl,” this upcoming animated film series is a joint production between Studio Shaft and renowned animator Yasuomi Umetsu. Known for its striking visual style reminiscent of Umetsu’s previous work, such as “Kite,” the series has generated buzz. Recently, Shaft announced the main voice cast for the first film. Actress Saki Miyashita will lend her voice to Ubu Shinsui, a young bounty hunter who tackles crimes involving advanced artificial human body technology. Miyashita is recognized for her leading role in the 2021 adaptation of “The Detective Is Already Dead” anime from ENGI. According to the latest report by Natalie Comic, Katsuyuki Konishi, Taku Yashiro, Rui Tanabe, Norio Wakamoto, Fuka Izumi, and Sumire Uesaka are also part of the cast.
Konishi stands out as a versatile voice actor, recognized primarily from his roles in “Gurren Lagann,” “Fairy Tail,” “Bleach,” “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind,” “Kill La Kill,” and “Black Clover.” He gives life to the enigmatic Mr. Elegance, seeking to enlist Ubu Shinsui into his band of bounty hunters. Meanwhile, Yashiro is another accomplished voice actor, who’s currently lending his talent to Professor Friede in “Pokemon Horizons.” Tanabe has made a name for herself in the anime world through her performances in “Wizard Barristers,” “Ai Tenchi Muyo,” and “Soul Buster.” Veteran actor Wakamoto boasts almost five decades of experience in anime, with his portrayal of Cell in “Dragon Ball” being particularly memorable. Lastly, Izumi and Uesaka are both actresses who have an impressive list of anime credits to their names.

The unique anime series titled “Virgin Punk” was developed by the seasoned animator Yasuomi Umetsu, who has been active in the field since the 1980s. Umetsu is also known for creating the “Kite” film series, a pair of violent animated films revolving around young female assassins.
