It’s quite intriguing to notice that the basics of the eventual game are already visible in this version. Even though it’s narrated from a first-person point of view, the teen horror atmosphere persists, as does a good number of characters found in the final product.
It’s not often we come across a project left unfinished like this, so make sure to appreciate the video and imagine what it might have become if completed.
From my perspective, I believe Sony made a wise choice in transforming this game into a non-motion controlled narrative adventure rather than abandoning it. Although we were enthusiastic about the PlayStation Move at that time and thought it could have benefited from more substantial experiences like this one, reworking the game for PS4 expanded its reach to a far larger audience.
Here’s another way to phrase it: It seems unlikely that Until Dawn would be receiving a movie adaptation in 2025 if it had first appeared on the PlayStation Move platform.
