Actor Jack Reynor, known for roles in “Midsommar” and “The Perfect Couple”, is set to star in a reboot of “The Mummy”. This upcoming film is directed by Lee Cronin and produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster (responsible for “M3GAN”) and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse (known for films like “Wolf Man”). As per The Hollywood Reporter, Reynor will portray a man who encounters malevolent supernatural forces, with his character being a husband and father. Filming is scheduled to begin in April, right here in Reynor’s homeland, Ireland.
The specifics of the plot are being withheld, but Cronin has hinted that this remake of “The Mummy” will be unlike any previous versions you’ve seen. I’m delving deep into the past to unearth something incredibly old and incredibly terrifying.
Originally produced by Universal Pictures, the classic movie “The Mummy” featuring Boris Karloff as Imhotep, is now set to be released by New Line Cinema instead. Universal had previously revived the “Mummy” series with the 1999 film “The Mummy,” starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. They intended to reintroduce the franchise through Tom Cruise’s remake of “The Mummy,” but this plan was abandoned after the first movie in the now-cancelled Dark Universe failed in 2017.
Remarkably, Eliott Reynor has garnered significant recognition for his portrayal alongside Florence Pugh in Ari Aster’s A24 film, “Midsommar.” His breakout role was that of an Irish rally car driver in the blockbuster “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” directed by Michael Bay, released in 2014. Following this, he collaborated with director Andy Serkis for Netflix’s “Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle.” In 2015, Reynor shared the screen with Toni Colette and Will Poulter in the Irish drama “Glassland,” earning him the Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting at the Sundance Film Festival. More recently, he appeared alongside Chloë Grace Moretz in Amazon Prime Video’s sci-fi series “The Peripheral” and opposite Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber in Netflix’s mystery drama series “The Perfect Couple.
The upcoming Mummy film, a collaboration between Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, is being produced by horror veterans Wan and Blum, with John Keville (known for his work on Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise and The Hole in the Ground) serving as producer. Michael Clear (from Wan’s Malignant), Judson Scott (M3GAN 2.0), and Macdara Kelleher (Blum’s Wolf Man) are the executive producers of this project.
As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that my anticipation for Lee Cronin’s “The Mummy” has been fueled by the announcement of its theater release date! Warner Bros. and New Line have set it to hit the screens on April 17, 2026 – a date I’ve marked in my calendar with excitement!
