Currently, “Family Guy” is progressing through Season 23 of its long-running animated saga, and surprisingly, the latest episode concluded the run of another classic animated show by providing a shocking finale for “Caillou”. This current season of “Family Guy” has been particularly distinctive as each episode presents something fresh, whether it’s bringing back an old character or offering an unexpected twist on something unconventional. However, the most recent episode combines these concepts by revisiting a previous “Caillou” parody after numerous references and jokes to the PBS Kids broadcast series over the years.
In the latest episode of “Family Guy,” Caillou makes a comeback, following an initial parody in Season 19. Stewie’s excitement over receiving an Easy-Bake Oven is reminiscent of his enthusiasm for watching the finale of Caillou. As the scene unfolds, it transforms into a humorous reenactment of “The Sopranos” controversial final scene, complete with a surprise guest appearance from Arthur. Keep your eyes peeled for this entertaining twist, as pointed out by Sekou Toure on X: [episode details]

Family Guy and Caillou Have a Hilarious History
In a playful nod to “The Sopranos,” the humorous gag in Family Guy’s Season 23 Episode 8, titled “Dog is My Co-Pilot,” references the series’ past. Throughout its history, Family Guy has often poked fun at the controversial ending of “The Sopranos,” and this isn’t the first time they’ve connected Caillou to it. The initial appearance was in Season 19’s episode, “Stewie’s First Word,” where Lois suspects Stewie learned his bad language from somewhere and decides to watch all of Caillou to find out the source.
Back then, the parody often targeted Caillou’s father and accused him of being lax in disciplining Caillou. Stewie has occasionally mentioned Caillou’s baldness as something he admired, but this is the most direct criticism of the children’s animated series since its inception. Fortunately, despite Arthur also being featured, the series stopped short of causing harm to Caillou. The series itself concluded in 2011 after five seasons.
What’s Next for Family Guy?
To watch the latest season as it debuts, “Family Guy” Season 23 is currently broadcast on Sunday evenings on Fox, within the Animation Domination programming block. For now, it’s filling the timeslot previously occupied by “The Simpsons” in the midseason schedule, but this will change starting from Sunday, March 30th, as “The Simpsons” comes back with Season 36. The specifics of how this shift will affect the block’s schedule are still unclear, but it’s unlikely that “Family Guy” will be absent from the block for long after that.
2024 found Family Guy largely absent from television screens, except for a few special episodes available through Hulu during Halloween and Christmas. Due to unexpected changes in Fox’s schedule, this latest season didn’t debut until earlier this year and has quite a few more episodes left before its conclusion. This scheduling shift has also brought about significant alterations for other Fox animated shows, so fans are advised to tune in on Sunday nights to witness how the Animation Domination block evolves as additional new episodes air, bringing potential changes to the future of this programming block.
