Angelina Jolie has eternal ties to New York City.
In a recent disclosure, the actor known for portraying Maleficent, who once resided in a city during her twenties, has donated her old New York City apartment to one of her sons.
In a recent interview with The New York Times on March 24, Angelina, aged 49, reminisced about her visit and stated, “The other day, I mentioned dropping by, to which he responded, ‘Could you hold off for a day so I can tidy up?'” She added, “I understood his request for time to clean, but I also wondered, ‘Is it really that messy?’
As the proud mother of Maddox (23), Pax (21), Knox (16), Zahara (20), Shiloh (18), and Vivienne (16), I’ve been fortunate to share a special connection with each one, especially when they visit New York City. Though Angelina didn’t explicitly mention which son took over the lease of our previous apartment, it has now transformed into a gathering place for all my kids whenever they’re in town. It’s heartwarming to see them bond and create memories in this space that holds so much history for us.
Given that Angelina frequently goes to Lower Manhattan to manage her cultural center, Atelier Jolie, it’s only appropriate that she extends such warmth. After all, Angelina herself visits this area to oversee her creative hub, which she launched as a fashion house towards the end of 2023 but now primarily serves as an art gallery for other talented artists to showcase their masterpieces.
She mentioned, “It’s enjoyable for me to observe other people’s creations. That fuels my own creativity. I was seeking an environment where I could interact with local artists. It provides a sense of shared purpose and camaraderie.
Whenever Maria isn’t championing other artists, she’s bestowing praises on those who inspire her most – my cherished family members. Recently, I had the pleasure of attending the Women In Training brunch with my eldest daughter, Zahara, in Alabama. It was a heartwarming moment when my dear child took the stage to share her thoughts at this special event, and I couldn’t help but beam with pride.
Over the years, she has participated in numerous family gatherings with her six children. Despite any public exposure during these events, she will consistently respect their personal privacy.
In an interview with Good Morning America last November, Angelina expressed, “They value their personal space a lot,” implying that she wishes for them to enjoy privacy as they mature.

In 2001, during the filming of Tomb Raider, Angelina Jolie developed a deep affection for Cambodia. Later on, she journeyed to the rural town of Battambang with a desire to locate her first child, having initially visited an orphanage there.
She didn’t feel a strong connection with any of them, but when she encountered Maddox, born on August 5, 2001, suspended in a box from the ceiling, something inside her shifted. Overwhelmed by this instant bond, she wept profusely, saying she cried and cried. (She later shared this with Vanity Fair.)
Initially, the 26-year-old woman had legally adopted her oldest son on her own. However, once she started dating Brad Pitt, he took over the adoption process too.
Through a fascination with his mother’s profession, when Angelina took on directing the 2017 film First They Killed My Father, which was an adaptation of her friend Loung Ung’s book about the Cambodian genocide under the Khmer Rouge regime, Maddox decided to join as an executive producer. He expressed this by saying, “I wanted to lend a hand wherever I could” regarding his role in the project. Regarding his boss, or rather mother, he described her as “amusing, lighthearted, and a joy to work with.” “She’s amazing,” he added.
Following his biochemistry education at Yonsei University in South Korea, a decision that his mother expressed great joy about, Maddox was invited to a White House state dinner in April 2023. During this event, President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden welcomed South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife, First Lady Kim Keon Hee.
Angelina Jolie shared in 2007 with MSN that her son Pax lived for approximately three and a half years in a single location, within a solitary room, on a small iron bed alongside twenty other children. During this time, he had no personal autonomy or freedom to make choices.
In an interview with MSN in 2007, Angelina Jolie described how her son Pax spent the first three and a half years of his life confined to one place, occupying a single room on an iron bed alongside twenty other children. He had no freedom or ability to make decisions during this period.
Coexisting with Maddox as well as Zahara and Shiloh, Angelina remarked, “All of a sudden, he finds himself in a very liberated environment surrounded by new siblings, a mom, and dad.” He’s learning English now, and he’s incredibly affectionate. His spirit is wild and free because he’s just gained freedom, making him a bit unruly and energetic. Yet, what a resilient and extraordinary little individual he is!
In a passion for the family enterprise, Pax lent his voice to the character Yoo in Angelina’s 2016 animated film “Kung Fu Panda 3” and worked as a set photographer on “First They Killed My Father”. He later accompanied his mother to the 2018 Golden Globe Awards.
Apart from that, he contributed to the decoration of Atelier Jolie, a creative fashion collective and tailoring business Angelina launched in New York City, and held a position in the assistant director team during the filming of his upcoming movie “Without Blood” on an Italian set.
In an interview with People, Angelina explained that working alongside both Pax and Maddox made the film set feel like a large, close-knit family, which made their collaboration seem entirely organic.
Three years ago, I, a passionate admirer, tagged along with Angelina as we visited the orphanage in Hawassa, Ethiopia. It was there that she met her eldest daughter, Zahara, born on the 8th of January, 2005. Anderson Cooper would later hear from Angelina that I adore Zahara deeply. “Mad,” as they call me, takes a special liking to her. When Zahara joined our family, she was seven months old. For me, it’s like having a tiny, cuddly pet I can cradle and gaze at endlessly.
Just like my siblings, I’ve taken a keen interest in every aspect of my mother’s endeavors. I’ve accompanied her on red carpet events, collaborated with jeweler Robert Procop to launch the Zahara Collection jewelry line in 2019, and have even joined her on trips to Syrian refugee camps as part of our shared mission with the UNHCR.
August 2022 found me struggling to maintain composure as I bid farewell to Zahara, dropping her off at Atlanta’s esteemed Spelman College. In an emotional Instagram post, I shared my heartfelt sentiments: “I haven’t shed a tear just yet… let’s hope I can keep it together!” The allure of the homecoming festivities later brought me back to this historic Black college and university (HBCU).
In 2023, Zahara became a member of the school’s Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. Not only that, but she has traveled with an actress on multiple occasions to Washington, D.C. She stood alongside Angelina during her emotional speech in support of renewing the Violence Against Women Act in February 2022 and met with lawmakers a year later, advocating for the passage of the Justice for All Reauthorization Act of 2022.
Ever since the joyful announcement of their pregnancy, I’ve been eagerly awaiting news about Angelina and Brad’s bundle of joy. And finally, on May 27, 2006, at Cottage Hospital in Swakopmund, Namibia, little Shiloh made her grand entrance! In a heartfelt interview with MSN, Angelina gushed about our new darling, saying, “Shi radiates light and love, she’s like a sweet drop of honey, and oh so amusing!” Guess what? I think I see glimmers of myself in this cherub—she’s bound to keep us on our toes!
At her first appearance on the red carpet at the premiere of Unbroken in 2014, Shiloh subsequently attended events for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, The Breadwinner, Dumbo, the 2018 National Board of Review Awards Gala, and more recently, the red carpet event for Eternals in 2021. On this occasion, she wore a Dior gown that belonged to her mother.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: “I enthusiastically say, ‘Go ahead, make it yours! My closet is your playground!’ That’s the kind of mom I am.
Beyond expressing an interest in Angelina’s charitable work, it appears that Shiloh has ventured slightly into the world of entertainment, often visiting the Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles.
Turning 18 in the year 2024, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt decided to file a petition at a court in Los Angeles, aiming to drop the “Jolie-Pitt” portion from her surname, choosing instead to be recognized as Shiloh Nouvel Jolie. According to information obtained by TopMob News, Shiloh has taken the initiative and engaged the services of a personal lawyer at her own expense.
At the 2008 Independent Spirit Awards, Angelina first showcased her pregnancy. Later, on July 12, 2008, in Nice, France, she gave birth to Knox and his twin sister Vivienne. The family moved into their Château Miraval, where they found themselves amidst the joyful chaos, but were thoroughly enjoying it. Shortly after, Angelina shared with People magazine that Shiloh and Zahara loved picking out the twins’ clothes and assisting with diaper changes and holding them.
In honor of Brad’s grandfather, Hal Knox Hillhouse, Angelina pointed out that “Knox shares many similarities with Brad, both emotionally and physically.” At the 2015 British motorcycle Grand Prix, this resemblance was particularly noticeable between them.
Similar to their elder siblings Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh, Knox also made a modest appearance in the 2016 film “Kung Fu Panda 3,” lending his voice to the character Ku Ku. As Jolie shared with ET, they were initially hesitant about acting, but she didn’t want them to miss out on the experience. They eventually joined in, and it turned out to be a fun and enjoyable adventure for them.
In simpler terms, Knox’s younger twin brother resembles Angelina’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, as he is less concerned with being the spotlight and more focused on supporting other creative individuals. He is also very considerate and deeply committed to theater, working diligently to find the best ways to contribute. Angelina shared this sentiment in a statement to TopMob News.
Despite excelling in portraying the younger version of Aurora, played by Elle Fanning in the 2014 film “Maleficent”, this high school student has since found a preference for roles behind the scenes. Angelina Jolie expressed her surprise and admiration at the time, stating that she was both impressed and startled by the young actress’s performance.
Angelina mentioned that Vivienne was the one who motivated her to help adapt Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 movie “The Outsiders” for Broadway. As a result, the teenager took on the role of a volunteer assistant for her mother, who won a Tony award as a producer.
Angelina shared with People that Vivienne, who goes by Vivienne Jolie in the playbill, will correct her. Angelina explained, “She’ll remind me, ‘Haven’t you read the memo? We need to do this, we have to go through this,'” Angelina said. “Vivienne has been a very demanding assistant. She approaches her tasks with great seriousness.
