The label “Temnoceran” from Monster Hunter Wilds refers to a distinctive type of monster, specifically arachnids or spiders. Temnocerans are among the more recent categories of monsters, introduced in Monster Hunter 4, with only a few species existing within it. In Monster Hunter Wilds, there are a few Temnocerans, one of which is a brand-new addition, and a smaller version that’s useful for collecting Monster Fluid.
In this Monster Hunter Wilds manual, you’ll find information on the Temnocerans found within the game, along with some insights into how they may behave during the chase for each one.
Monster Hunter Wilds Temnocerans
In the wilderness, you’ll find three creatures belonging to the Temnoceran family – two colossal beasts and one tiny one that stands out distinctly in a particular location, making it hard to overlook.
Lala Barina
In your initial encounter with a Temnoceran, you’ll find yourself in the Scarlet Forest region known as Lala Barina. This graceful arachnid immobilizes its adversaries and darts and spins around the battlefield more to evade you than to attack. It’s primarily defensive behavior designed to prevent you from assaulting it. Long-range weapons prove beneficial in these encounters, given Lala Barina’s preference for close combat. To maximize your chances, focus on fire-based weapons. If you’re still in the early stages of the game, ensure you craft some fire weapons using materials gathered from the Brute Wyvern Quematrice.
Lala Barina is most commonly found in the Scarlet Forest, but there’s a chance you might stumble upon it in the Ruins of Wyveria too.
Nerscylla
In the sequel to Monster Hunter 4, Nerscylla resurfaces, but specifically the standard version, not Shrouded Nerscylla. At first, it sets up its lair in Iceshard Cliffs, however, upon completing the main game and unlocking high rank, you might also discover it in Oilwell Basin and the Ruins of Wyveria. Nerscylla has the ability to cause poison, sleep, and immobilizing web statuses, making it more hazardous than Lala Barina. Battling it becomes less challenging when using a lot of purifying items or if you’re hunting in a group that includes a support hunter.
Nerscylla is weak to fire, but resistant to water and dragon.
Nerscylla Hatchling
As I delve into the dense foliage of the Wilds, I come across the diminutive Temnoceran creatures known as Nerscylla Hatchlings. Unlike their adult counterparts, these critters won’t poison or put me to sleep, but they do have a tendency to travel in swarms. They seem particularly drawn to the presence of the colossal Nerscylla, but I’ve also encountered them swarming independently – even in areas inhabited by Rime Beetles.
As a gamer, I can tell you that Nerscylla Hatchlings don’t last long; they crumble with just one or two whacks. The reward? Monster broth or fluid, a handy pick-me-up after the swift takedown!
Make sure to have your binoculars handy when you’re on the lookout for crowns, and if the higher-tier battles seem overly challenging, consider creating high-rank armor A or B adorned with robust decorations to aid you.
