It seems like the game’s performance significantly drops when you visit the hideout in Assassin’s Creed Shadow. But don’t fret, as it appears that Ubisoft is working to address this issue.
Regardless of playing on the game’s high-performance mode delivering generally smooth 60 frames per second, the frame rate seems to drop significantly once you enter the central hub, which resembles a base of operations and is shared by characters Naoe and Yasuke, almost as if it were split into two.
Initially, we considered the limited frame rate to be an unavoidable constraint. Given that the hideout is highly customizable – allowing for the construction of buildings, placement of various decorations, and pet keeping – it’s understandable how it could become overflowing with items. Consequently, the capped frame rate seemed logical, though the sudden drop in performance was undeniably abrupt.
To my delightful surprise, it appears that the dip I encountered wasn’t intentional after all. The language used by Ubisoft hints that this could potentially be a bug in the game instead.
The issue regarding frame rate limitation to 30 FPS in the hideout while using the Performance Profile, on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox platforms, has been officially documented.
Luckily, the issue with the bug has been assigned to those working on the main update for the game, even though a specific launch date for this upcoming fix hasn’t been announced as of now.
Well, fellow gamers, I’ve got some good news for us all: it seems that the occasional lag in our hideout is indeed a technical hiccup, or as we like to call it in the gaming world, a “bug”. The developers are aware of this issue and are working hard to squash it, with a promised fix coming up soon. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and enjoy the game while we wait!
