Konami has unveiled a collaboration with Major League Baseball (MLB) to create a fresh mobile sports game. Known as eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit, this game will showcase authentic players and teams from the MLB, including Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman and San Diego Padres outfielder Jackson Merrill, who have officially granted their licenses for the project.
MLB is set to make a significant move in promoting “eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit” by featuring game logos on their official website and during the MLB Tokyo Series games held at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
The mobile game titled “eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit” promises an authentic baseball experience and is set to release for both iOS and Android devices. In this game, players have the unique opportunity to influence the roster by voting for a specific ballplayer each month through the ‘Star Watch’ system. The chosen players will subsequently appear in the game, equipped with power-ups that correspond to their actual baseball stats.
Konami president Hideki Hayakawa expressed delight in disclosing a strategic alliance with Major League Baseball. For more than three decades, Konami has been delivering engaging and immersive baseball video game adventures in Japan. This partnership will allow us to broaden the reach of these enjoyable experiences by collaborating with the league,” said Hayakawa in an official statement.
In a recent statement, Noah Garden, MLB’s deputy commissioner of Business and Media, expressed that Konami’s longstanding history of revolutionizing video games for nearly five decades and providing distinctive sports entertainment has caught their attention. He further mentioned that this strategic collaboration could elevate “eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit” to unprecedented heights, offering fans an exceptional gaming experience.
Garden highlighted Konami’s commitment to enhancing consumer experiences using cutting-edge technology and innovative ideas, which resonates with MLB’s objectives. He is excited about the prospect of working together during the season to market this exciting new game and showcase the incredible global talent in baseball.
At this moment, the game titled “eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit” is being developed for mobile phones, but a specific launch date has not been disclosed yet. Given Konami’s and Major League Baseball’s strategies regarding upcoming baseball seasons, it seems likely that the game will be made available on both iOS and Android platforms fairly soon.
As a fervent fan, I’m thrilled to share that eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit is about to join Konami’s dynamic sports portfolio, primarily geared towards iOS and Android devices – the ever-evolving eFootball. Given its title, it might be apparent that eFootball revolves around soccer, a passion that has driven its development since its debut in 2021. This persistent development was largely influenced by initial criticisms, leading Konami to issue an apology for the game’s early state. Originally launched on PC and consoles, eFootball is now accessible on iOS and Android devices as well.
