In the sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, there’s plenty of combat; it appears that 15th-century Bohemia was a rather brutal era. The first Kingdom Come: Deliverance game provided players an opportunity to tone down the bloodshed with the ‘Merciful’ achievement, which recognized your success in completing the main storyline without taking a life. However, this option is absent in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, resulting in a more action-packed experience. Yet, some gamers are still choosing the path of peace.
Approximately two months following its debut, a player named hamfinity has disclosed on the r/kingdomcome subreddit that they have finished the game without causing harm, continuing the narrative of the Merciful playthrough. The post states, “Becoming medieval Batman was one of my most enjoyable gaming experiences while playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance for the first time.” The user further explained, “Given the combat was being tweaked from patch to patch in the game’s early release, I opted to shun the designated weapons and instead adopt a full-fledged Batman approach.
In other words, because Warhorse Studios hasn’t included a merciful achievement in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, it appears that they might not have given much thought to players who prefer non-violent approaches. As hamfinity pointed out, some quests required breaking the rules slightly due to the developers’ emphasis on certain killings. Creative solutions such as allowing companions to deliver the fatal blow, using fall damage by dropping unconscious enemies off high places, and even letting Mutt attack their private parts were employed to work around these instances.
As a gamer, I discovered an unconventional approach to playing the game, but it strangely resonated with Henry’s predicament. It felt like I was embodying the struggle between doing what’s right and being pulled towards the wrong path due to circumstances.
