As a devoted movie buff, I must admit that my excitement for The Avengers: Endgame cast was dampened when Marvel Entertainment’s live premiere event on X turned out to be a rather lethargic affair. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit the mark.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe finds itself in an unusual predicament. Most of its Disney+ series have underperformed ratings-wise, and this trend is also evident in their box office performance, except for movies starring Wolverine or Spider-Man. Now, the studio urgently requires a turnaround to avoid being viewed as culturally obsolete compared to, or even surpassing, Star Wars in such terms.

It turns out that “Captain America: Brave New World” and the recent “Daredevil” have underperformed significantly at the box office. The upcoming movies like “Thunderbolts” and “Fantastic Four: First Steps” are causing concern, but there was hope that the next Avengers film could turn things around. However, the announcement of a multitude of celebrities appearing in the movie has had an unexpected negative impact instead.
Lame appears to be the game that Marvel is playing.
Take a seat.

“Take a seat,” Marvel posted on the video. It was more like “take a snooze.”
Among the actors and actresses listed meticulously in a lengthy video were Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, and Florence Pugh.

If this lineup was intended to thrill Marvel enthusiasts, it seems like it was “Backward Day” at Disney instead. While there were some big names such as Chris Hemsworth, Patrick Stewart, Tom Hiddleston, and Kelsey Grammar included, many of the others were disappointments for fans who had previously turned their backs on shows and movies with those titles. Worries that Marvel might be overfilling this supposedly golden goose with Young Avengers, Shang-Chi, Black Widow spin-offs, Eternals, and other less favored properties seemed to be validated.
It seems like Kevin Feige and the Z-Tier character selections didn’t learn from their initial failures, but rather than fixing those issues, they’ve opted for a lavish $500M budget extravaganza featuring characters that many people are unfamiliar with.

Given the less than favorable reception Marvel has experienced over the last five years, it’s high time for the studio to concentrate on their A-list roster of characters and produce a top-notch film using these iconic figures.
Combining Spider-Man and Wolverine in one outing, let’s introduce the X-Men too – Rogue, Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey. It’s time to reunite Rocket and Starlord in another cinematic adventure. However, the idea of assembling a fresh Captain America alongside Thunderbolts characters for an Avengers film feels like pushing things too far. This might end up making Snow White seem like a blockbuster hit compared to it.

The one caveat:
If these characters only appear briefly when the main selling points of Marvel series are on-screen, I’ll reconsider my initial assessment. However, at present, it seems that these remaining three phases of Marvel need to be cut off or phased out, much like a surgical amputation.
