A Nintendo Direct event has been scheduled for this coming Thursday, March 27th. This presentation will only cover games designed for the existing Nintendo Switch console. Although some gamers are eagerly anticipating the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, this forthcoming broadcast isn’t to be missed as it promises some intriguing revelations. In a recent Giant Bomb podcast, Jeff Grubb hinted that he obtained information about this week’s Nintendo Direct from a “partner game” that will soon be unveiled. Grubb was cautious not to disclose the identity of this upcoming game, but did suggest that it will spark much debate among gamers, despite other potential blockbuster titles on display.
In simpler terms, after exiting this tournament, regardless of which match is the most thrilling, there’s going to be one game that sparks the most discussion, and it doesn’t have to be a Nintendo game, hinted Grubb playfully.
As a curious gamer, I’ve got to say, Grubb’s hint isn’t exactly clear, but it’s definitely piqued my interest! Folks on Reddit are already brainstorming about what Grubb might be referring to, and it seems like it could potentially tie back to Nintendo. We’ve seen this kind of thing before with games like the Mario + Rabbids series by Ubisoft or the Star Fox characters in Starlink: Battle for Atlas. Others are speculating that it could be linked to Banjo-Kazooie, since that was once a Nintendo series but is now under Microsoft’s wing. It’s all just speculation at this point, but I can’t wait to see where this leads!
Other users on Reddit focused on discussing topics that might spark lively debate. Some speculated that a Halo game coming to the Switch would definitely ignite such discussion, as the series has only been available on Xbox or PC platforms so far. Given Microsoft’s current multi-platform approach, this possibility made some wonder if it could be a PlayStation published game instead – an idea that would undoubtedly stir up quite a discussion! Although this seems rather improbable, it’s not completely out of the question given last year’s release of LEGO Horizon Adventures.
After that hint, Grubb proceeded to talk about various games that have been whispered to be coming to the Switch for a while now. These include the long-awaited Zelda Wii U remasters, the rumored complete remasters of Metroid Prime 2 and 3, and a supposedly completed remake of Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. Grubb doesn’t seem to have any inside information about these games being unveiled during tomorrow’s presentation, but instead suggests that we might catch glimpses of some of them.
Tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct won’t feature any news regarding the Nintendo Switch 2, as the company has not been discussing it much since its initial announcement in January. However, they will be talking more about the new console next week during another Nintendo Direct presentation specifically focused on it. With two shows within a week, Nintendo enthusiasts are bound to have plenty of discussions in the coming days!
