The two-time Academy Award winner is set to team up with Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin in the cast of “Only Murders in the Building” for season five.
On March 26th, the show’s official Instagram posted a picture of Renee Zellweger’s chair on set, accompanied by the caption: “Renee Zellweger joins us at the studio! #OMITB
Enthusiasts were overjoyed to learn that the actress from “Bridget Jones’s Diary” was set to be part of the cast. One fan exclaimed, “Oh my goodness! I already cherish this series…and now this legendary figure is on board? I’m absolutely smitten, smitten, smitten! Can’t wait!” Another commented, “You just keep getting more and more remarkable with each season.
55-year-old Zellweger is set to appear alongside Christoph Waltz and Keegan Michael-Key during the upcoming season, but specific details about their roles within the plot and any potential connections they may have to the next murder at The Arconia remain a secret.
For Zellweger, the Hulu series represents her latest acting streak following a six-year hiatus in the early 2010s. In a January interview with British Vogue, the actress from “Cold Mountain” expressed that she felt compelled to return, stating, “I had grown tired of hearing my own voice.
She went on saying, “While I was working, I found myself thinking, ‘Wow, here you are. Aren’t you feeling down again, Renee? Or is that your angry tone?’ Essentially, it was a repetition of similar emotional situations.
Meanwhile, away from the public eye, the actress who portrayed Judy and has been in a relationship with Ant Anstead since 2021, found purpose during this period.
She shared that she composed music, delved into international law studies, constructed a home, saved a pair of elderly dogs, established a partnership resulting in a production company, supported and fundraised for an ill friend, and invested significant time with her family, godchildren, and cross-country road trips with the dogs. Ultimately, she regained her health.
