Spike Chunsoft has unveiled the upcoming installment in the AI: The Somnium Files series titled “No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files.” This game is set to release simultaneously on Nintendo Switch and Steam (PC) on July 25, 2025, with support for both English and Japanese voice-overs. Additionally, players can choose between English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese text options.
Here is an overview of the game, via Spike Chunsoft:
About
In No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files, gamers assume the character of Kaname Date, the leading figure, and partner up with the AI-Ball, Aiba, once more to tackle a baffling predicament and save Iris, a digital celebrity who’s been compelled to participate in a hazardous escape game. The game introduces an innovative feature called “Escape.” Similar to past games, in “Investigation,” players inspect crime scenes and listen to statements. In “Somnium,” players delve into the dream realms of suspects and vital witnesses. During the freshly added “Escape” sequences, players decipher riddles to break free from locked spaces. By transitioning among these three sections, gamers gather the essential hints needed to crack the case.
In this new game, Kazuya Yamada (from Spike Chunsoft) is penning the script, while Kotaro Uchikoshi, a previous scriptwriter, is serving as the series director. Yusuke Kozaki comes back to handle character design, and Keisuke Ito remains in his role as the music composer.
Story
The day following the resolution of the New Cyclops Serial Killings, I, an ardent admirer of internet sensation Iris Sagan (or “A-set”), found myself thrust into an extraordinary ordeal. Iris was abducted by a UFO and compelled to engage in a harrowing survival game called The Third Eye Game. Simultaneously, across the city, a peculiar artifact surfaced – a coffin-like device with a cryptic message attached: “The Third Eye Game has begun.
“Psync me.”
With a fragile link to the vanished Iris as his guide, one individual resolutely embarks on a mission once more, intent on locating the supposedly non-existent UFO. Accompanied by his companion, the AI named Aiba, he embarks on this journey. That person…is Special Agent Kaname Date.

Special Messages from Kotaro Uchikoshi and Kazuya Yamada
- Associate Scenario Director Kotaro Uchikoshi: “For this title, I’m serving as the ‘scenario advisor’ from the perspective of overseeing the entire series. From the beginning, I trusted the development staff, but I was filled with awe at the quality, which far exceeded my expectations. The core element of this game, the ‘escape game,’ is not just a collection of puzzles; it has been intricately woven with a deep thematic significance, and its difficulty is perfectly balanced…! I believe both core and casual players will definitely enjoy it. This game is a heartfelt anthem of love created by the staff who love the AI series, for all the fans who also love the AI series.”
- Director and Scenario Writer Kazuya Yamada: “I am Kazuya Yamada, the director and scenario writer for this project. We’ve been able to bring this title to you thanks to all of you who said, ‘I want to see Date as the protagonist once again.’ Thank you so much. As we considered how to make this title as satisfying as possible, we ended up cramming so much into it that it caused a lot of trouble for the development team. However, because of that, we believe we’ve created a title that everyone will enjoy. So please look forward to it.”
