As the curtains draw on Captain America: Brave New World’s box office journey, I, as a devoted Marvel fan, find myself eagerly anticipating the build-up for Thunderbolts*. The latest teasers have been cleverly crafted to highlight Sentry’s towering presence within the MCU. Marvel Studios has shown remarkable ingenuity in its promotional strategies, unveiling a Wheaties-inspired poster and a trailer that mirrors A24’s distinctive aesthetic.
Typically, a studio tentpole movie lasts around two hours, and given that, the runtime for “Thunderbolts*” should be expected. If a film like this is longer, it’s often due to needing more time for character introductions or world-building, as seen in the case of “Fantastic Four” being 2 hours, 20 minutes long. Since most of the primary characters in “Thunderbolts*” have already appeared in previous Marvel productions, the audience is already acquainted with them. As a result, the narrative can dive straight into the action without getting too bogged down by excessive explanation or setting up group dynamics.
The runtime of Thunderbolts should boost its potential success at the cinemas, as multiple screenings per day can easily be scheduled without complications. This is advantageous since Marvel aims to swiftly recover from the setback caused by Brave New World. Given the cast list for Doomsday, the studio has high expectations for Thunderbolts to establish the grand finale of the Multiverse Saga. They desperately need this film to be a blockbuster.
