Summary

  • STALKER 2’s update 1.3.1 rolled out on March 27.
  • The new patch introduces 22 changes, including 15 fixes for mission bugs.
  • Six fixes targeting a variety of game systems are also part of the package.

Update 1.3.1 for the game “STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl” is now ready to be downloaded. This is the second update for March 2025, which brings approximately two dozen modifications, mostly addressing issues with the “STALKER 2” game.

In the approximately 3.5 months since the November 2024 launch of STALKER 2, Ukrainian game developer GSC Game World has dished out 11 updates for their latest title. So far, their patching strategy has been consistent, with one major update being followed by one or more smaller tweaks that continue to polish the game further.

The continuation of this trend became evident with the launch of the 1.3.1 update on March 27, following the 1.3.0 patch from March 18 in STALKER 2. This latest edition of the game incorporates 22 modifications, primarily focusing on bug fixes. Some of these adjustments address critical mission bottlenecks that had a potential to freeze the players’ progress, like an unusual glitch where a significant character would be absent at a specific lab during the Visions of Truth mission, which the protagonist encounters throughout the game.

In relation to this topic, the 1.3.1 update rectifies a reported glitch in the game “STALKER 2,” specifically within one of its mid-game missions titled “Dawn of a New Day.” This glitch concerned the task of acquiring the Control Emitter failing to appear after a certain character’s demise. Other missions that have benefited from bug fixes as part of the late March 2025 patch include “The Boundary,” “Chasing Ghosts,” “Let No One Leave Unsatisfied,” “Hot on the Trail,” “Once More unto the Breach,” “Dark Times,” “Legends of the Zone,” “Extreme Simplicity,” and “The Road to the Foundation.” Furthermore, the 1.3.1 update also tackles an issue where an NPC obstructs a specific watchpost entrance during a mission whose name reveals a significant story event. This patch incorporates a total of 15 quest-related fixes in all.

The 1.3.1 update incorporates about a dozen technical fixes for different gaming systems within it. For example, it addresses a problem that occasionally stopped Non-Player Characters (NPCs) in STALKER 2 from returning to their original locations after seeking cover due to an Emission issue. Similarly, the patch modifies the Ribs anomaly’s sound effect, ensuring it no longer gets stuck on loop and repeats every 10 seconds even after the player has left its vicinity. Additionally, a series of “Exception Access Violation” errors have been rectified by the update; however, some may persist due to how GSC has managed memory access bugs related to this category since the game’s launch.

Previously, the Ukrainian developer has pledged to offer substantial post-release assistance for STALKER 2, including a minimum of two paid expansion packs. Regarding updates, the 1.3.1 version represents the game’s twelfth patch in just four months.
