There’s been a lot of talk about Sony possibly having an exclusive release window for Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong on the PS5. However, this highly anticipated action RPG has not yet been made available on Xbox Series X/S, despite its ESRB rating. The developers have mentioned encountering difficulties with the hardware, particularly the 10 GB shared memory on the Series S console.
Even if no exclusivity agreement exists, Sony has still provided aid with the title, as stated by Phil Rosenberg, SVP of Global Partner Development and Relations in a conversation with SIE Blog. He highlighted the Content Ventures team, emphasizing that Christian and Shawne Benson are unparalleled in the world when it comes to discovering hidden treasures and fostering emerging companies that typically fly under our usual radar.
They receive a significant amount of assistance from both the external account management group and the partner development team, these teams frequently serve as the initial contacts.
As a dedicated fan, I can share that Rosenberg mentioned the team collaborated with Annapurna Games right from the inception of games like Stray. Interestingly, this same approach extended our backing to other titles such as Genshin Impact, Black Myth: Wukong, and Stellar Blade.
Initially, Genshin Impact was only available on PS5 for quite some time, which reportedly led Microsoft to desire a game of its own with the same appeal. At present, Stellar Blade is exclusively playable on console, but a PC version is expected this Summer. Could it be possible that something similar might happen with Wukong, given its initial announcement for all current-gen systems?
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but get excited about the latest news on Black Myth: Wukong. With sales reportedly surpassing 25 million units, it seems the game has resonated with many! Keep your eyes peeled for updates, as an expansion is rumored to be in the pipeline. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
