These four stars are coming together for an epic journey.
Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn, and Harris Dickinson have been chosen to portray The Beatles in a grand, four-part film adaptation – with each film focusing on one of the quartet’s band members, providing a unique, individual perspective.
In my expert opinion, the upcoming film “Gladiator II’s” Mescal casting has some exciting news for Beatles fans. I’ll be stepping into the shoes of Paul McCartney myself, while Saltburn’s Keoghan will embody Ringo Starr. For those who love “Stranger Things,” Quinn will portray George Harrison, and the leading lady from “Babygirl,” Dickinson, will bring John Lennon to life on screen. Quite a stellar cast, wouldn’t you agree?
In April 2028, the four movies, crafted by Sam Mendes for Sony Pictures, are set to hit theaters. This was made official by Mendes himself during his speech at CinemaCon on March 31st.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Mendes stated that collectively, the four movies will narrate the story of the most renowned band in history. On the other hand, Sony’s CEO, Tom Rothman, described the synchronized premieres as creating “the initial binge-worthy cinematic experience.
Apart from discussing the cast and upcoming release dates, Mendes additionally opened up about the inspiration behind the movie.
Speaking to the crowd, as reported by People magazine, he shared, “The Beatles reshaped my perspective on music. For quite some time now, I’ve endeavored to create a film about them.
Mendes expressed, “The band’s tale seemed too monumental for a solo film. Transforming it into a television miniseries, for some reason, didn’t resonate with me.
During the announcement, Mescal, Keoghan, Quinn, and Dickinson stepped onto the stage together, paying homage to “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” by acknowledging the audience with a nod to that iconic band name.
What a pleasure it is to be among you,” Mescal started, and the others joined in, “We’re absolutely delighted, you’re an amazing crowd, we’d love nothing more than to invite you back to our place.
Before the announcement of the cast, one of the last two band members, Starr, expressed his thoughts on the approaching biographical movies.
“I’m thrilled that [Mendes] has undertaken the challenge of directing four films simultaneously, as he mentioned in his interview with People on March 22. I can’t wait to see the results of his work.”
He playfully remarked, “Apparently, the person portraying me has been learning drums. I suggested someone should remind him not to overdo it.
