Baylee Littrell is showing off his larger-than-life talent.
22-year-old Brian Littrell’s son performed an emotionally stirring original song during the American Idol auditions, leaving Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie (and his father, plus other American Idol aspirants) teary-eyed.
In the March 31st episode of the competition series, Baylee performed his own composition, “Hey Jesus,” and chose to dedicate it to his deceased grandmother named Shirley.
Originally, I composed this tune during a particularly challenging period of my life, as I had tragically lost someone dear to me. This person was none other than my beloved grandmother, who played an irreplaceable role in my life. When my father was touring, she would often fill the void and comprehended me in ways few others ever could. Regrettably, my grandmother passed away three years ago.
Baylee expressed through tears, “I believed she’d be here for instances like these. I hadn’t anticipated losing her. Therefore, when I did, I doubted everything. I distanced myself from faith, thinking I wouldn’t regain it again. But this song seemed to guide me back to it.
As Baylee played his guitar during the show, audience members rose from their seats and dabbed away tears. At a certain moment, the camera switched to his parents Leighanne Littrell and Brian, who were seated next to American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, both singing along with tears streaming down their faces.
At the judges table, Carrie was visibly emotional as she praised the performance.
Baylee, your talent and sincerity truly shine,” she remarked, with Luke and Lionel echoing the sentiment. “You’re incredibly gifted.
Additionally, Baylee enjoys the backing of his father, who’s been successful in the boyband scene for more than twenty years. Yet, this budding artist is eager to pave his unique way forward.
Speaking before his performance, he noted that having family in the music industry can provide numerous opportunities, but it can also lead to a great deal of conflict. His main aim, however, is to establish himself independently.
During the season 23 premier on March 10, I left the judges in awe with my audition performance, which was even more special because my dad joined me on stage. Together, we sang an original piece, taking the opportunity to acknowledge my father as the source of my gift and talent.
Baylee expressed that he thinks his singing talent comes from his father, and he hopes to honor him well today. Essentially, music is something that has been passed down through generations in their family, but when it comes to dance moves, it seems that particular trait didn’t get inherited genetically.
Baylee stated, “Walking in my father’s shoes is intimidating since I consider his music career to be among the most remarkable in history. No one could possibly match up.
