Next week, we’ll be seeing The Piano once more on our television sets. Channel 4 has announced the specific date for the airing of the Season 3 premiere.
Claudia Winkleman and Mika will once again take the helm of a heartfelt program, where undiscovered piano talents from across the United Kingdom are highlighted. They get an opportunity to display their extraordinary abilities while sharing their personal tales.
At significant train stations throughout the United Kingdom, episodes unfold with contestants showcasing their talent by playing the piano available on the station’s main floor. This is done for both the watching public and the judges.
In this year’s competition, one of the skilled piano supervisors is Jon Batiste, a multi-award-winning artist (Grammy, Oscar, and BAFTA), who has also produced the music for the critically-acclaimed Pixar movie “Soul”.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that you can catch a sneak peek of what’s coming next in the trailer below, before the season 3 premiere airs on Sunday, April 13th, 2025, at 9 pm, only on Channel 4.
Upon entering the program, Batiste expressed his joy at serving as a mentor for The Piano. He is eager to watch the new series’ pianists share their talents on the very instrument that has been the focus of his lifetime pursuit.
This performance will blend my distinctive background of entertaining in train stations and grand concert halls. Regardless of the venue, I’ve consistently held the view that music, at its finest, fosters a sense of community and unites people during trying times of division.
I’m really looking forward to touring the United Kingdom’s train stations, performing with a piano and new talents. Alongside Mika, a remarkable songwriter and musician, and Claudia, who has her unique flair, I’m excited about the fantastic musical journeys we’re embarking on.
Mentoring on The Piano and interacting with exceptionally skilled pianists has brought me immense pleasure. The skill I’ve seen is astounding, and it’s been an honor to observe the passion for piano playing throughout the UK.
Because of my overseas concert obligations, I’ll unfortunately have to withdraw from Series 3, but I’m thrilled to be handing over the position to my good friend Jon Batiste, whom I believe will excel in this role. I will deeply miss Mika and Claudia during their absence.
