As an enthusiastic gaming fan, I’m thrilled to share that the diligent team at Hamster, the renowned Japanese emulation house, is expanding their Arcade Archives collection for the Nintendo Switch 2! Kicking off this exciting venture is the iconic 1993 game, Namco’s Ridge Racer.
However, it’s important to note that the legendary System 22 game won’t be accessible on PlayStation 5 straight away. So far, the developers have only confirmed support for Nintendo’s latest system.
The bond between Ridge Racer and PlayStation is undeniably deep, as the initial game was swiftly adapted for the PlayStation 1, serving as a demonstration of the mighty capabilities of Sony’s new platform. Although this version originates from arcades, we eagerly anticipate its potential appearance on the PS5 someday.
According to the announcement, the upcoming Arcade Archives series includes Time Attack gameplay modes, as well as enhancements like multiple save points and Video Response Rate (VRR) compatibility.
We’ll reach out to Hamster and see if they have any intentions of making this game available on the PlayStation Store.
For now, you have the option to enjoy both the PSP edition of Ridge Racer 2 and the PS1 hit, Ridge Racer Type 4, on either your PS5 or PS4. This is possible through the emulation feature that comes with your PS Plus Premium subscription.
