The most recent indication is a glowing article in The Hollywood Reporter about the new companion, Varada Sethu, who will appear alongside Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor in the upcoming season. However, it’s important to note that she’s not your typical companion. She’s portrayed as a strong female leader, an equal, and—prepare yourself—someone who challenges The Doctor.

It seems that merely accompanying an all-powerful alien who has saved the universe numerous times doesn’t satisfy some people, as they long to express disapproval of his behavior by rolling their eyes and admonishing his manners, much like a strict BBC etiquette instructor would do.
