1969 marked the arrival of the formidable, enigmatic aliens known as the Sepsis. Their power was unparalleled, their intentions inscrutable, and their ruthlessness absolute, leaving Earth’s armies in ruins, annihilating entire nations, and claiming billions of lives. With a few collaborators, they enslaved the survivors. Yet, there were those who defied the invaders, engaging in guerrilla warfare whenever possible, but achieving little over three decades of struggle. In a bid for victory, a British resistance leader sought an unlikely ally – Baroness Yelena Honorée DeSilva. She is five centuries old, boasting superhuman strength and speed, exhibiting cunning, ruthlessness, and bloodlust that rivals the Sepsis. Her only known vulnerability: an extreme sensitivity to sunlight.
1) Lady DeSilva is an intriguing figure, while Silver combines elements of science fiction, horror, and post-apocalyptic themes. Yet, it’s Caroll who points out that the narrative’s foundation stems from Currie’s unique artistic approach.
He mentions that silver is one of those unique creations that wouldn’t exist without the artist. When The Creator requested a narrative for Joe Currie to illustrate, he felt that it should be bizarre, ominous, filled with action, and gritty – something we don’t often see in the pages of 2000 AD. Joe is an exceptional artist with a potent, raw, intense style. If you imagine blending Carl Critchlow’s art with John Hicklenton’s, then flipping it on its side and twisting it at odd angles, that might give you an idea of Joe’s work. He can portray the most unsightly characters in dire circumstances in a way that turns them into stunningly beautiful depictions.
2000 AD’s Silver character makes a comeback in issue 2427, hitting stands on April 9th, where four fresh opening chapters can be found. In the same issue, Judge Dredd embarks on a new adventure titled “The Truth Bomber.” Chimpsky, as depicted on the cover, resumes his role in “The Truth Conundrum.” A new chapter of “The Fall of Deadworld,” entitled “Blow by Blow,” is also included. The universe of Rogue Trooper brings us “Dome,” a story from Nu Earth Tales. Lastly, another installment of the “Portals & Black Goo” story, “A Quorom of Fiends,” continues.
