Which book series is Grace based on?

The TV show, “Grace,” is derived from the widely popular Roy Grace novel series penned by writer Peter James. Notably, James has made several guest appearances throughout the different seasons.

Similar to the ITV series, the program revolves around Roy and his team as they delve into a string of murders happening in and near Brighton. Meanwhile, Roy is grappling with unraveling the enigma surrounding his wife’s vanishing act.

How many books are there in the Roy Grace series?

There are currently 21 novels in the Roy Grace series, with another one on the way later this year.

There is also one novella in the series which was released in 2021, titled Wish You Were Dead.

In my observations, all the titles for the novels and novellas consist of no more than five words, with the common thread being the use of the word “dead.

Here’s a full list of the books featured in the series:

  • Dead Simple (2005)
  • Looking Good Dead (2006)

Which books are being adapted in season 5 of the ITV series?

This season consists of four full-length episodes, each based on the upcoming four novels: “Need You Dead”, “Dead If You Don’t”, “Dead at First Sight” and “Find Them Dead”.

I’m thrilled to share that we’ve got a green light for another season! However, the specific novels we’ll be adapting are still under wraps for now. Stay tuned for more updates!

Will the ITV series adapt more of the books?

After the fifth and sixth seasons, no formal confirmation has been made, yet Peter James, John Simm, and the entire cast and crew of the show have shown enthusiasm about coming back for more episodes.

Despite James’s high productivity, the series is quickly catching up to him, and it doesn’t seem like there will be any problems.)

Absolutely, we’ve discussed it. Peter is brimming with ideas, so I believe we’re in good hands.

Furthermore, our conversation yesterday revolved around expressing our satisfaction with the recent departure of the show from its original book source material. This shift has been subtle yet noticeable over the past few years.

For example, Bella Moy passes away relatively quickly in the original stories, but we chose to keep her alive. As a result, several characters and plotlines have been altered significantly. I believe this change is crucial.

I enjoy the surprise of readers who’ve finished all the books, as they often expect the storyline to follow what they’ve predicted, only to find something entirely unexpected instead. I appreciate this twist, because it highlights the unique nature of books compared to TV shows.

“So, yeah, I’m not really worried about that. I think we’ve got plenty of cases to solve.”

James appeared delighted with the idea of the series surpassing his novels, expressing that they currently have a hundred additional mysteries waiting in the wings.
