As a cinephile eagerly awaiting Jesse Armstrong’s next masterpiece, I can hardly contain my excitement about his upcoming directorial endeavor titled Mountainhead. Known for his exceptional work on Succession, it’ll be intriguing to see how he translates the same gripping storytelling and witty dialogue onto the big screen in this highly anticipated feature film.
The movie is produced for HBO and is set to premiere on Sky and NOW TV in the United Kingdom. This week, it concludes filming in Park City, Utah.
Additionally, along with the thrilling news, some initial images from the film have been unveiled as well, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the talented ensemble cast.
For the time being, specifics about the movie are kept secret, but it’s been confirmed that “Mountainhead” will tell a story centered around a circle of wealthy companions who convene amidst the tumult of a global emergency unfolding in various locations.
In the movie, we have Steve Carell from “The Office” U.S., Jason Schwartzman known for “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”, Cory Michael Smith famous in “May December” and “Gotham”, and Ramy Youssef, star of “Poor Things,” playing the roles of Randall, Hugo Van Yalk, Venis, and Jeff respectively.

The roles are completed by Hadley Robinson (Hester), Andy Daly (Casper), Ali Kinkade (Berry), Daniel Oreskes (Dr. Phipps), David Thompson (Leo), Ami MacKenzie (Janine) and Ava Kostia (Paula).
Or alternatively,
The ensemble is finished off with Hadley Robinson playing Hester, Andy Daly stepping into Casper’s shoes, Ali Kinkade as Berry, Daniel Oreskes assuming the role of Dr. Phipps, David Thompson portraying Leo, Ami MacKenzie taking on Janine and Ava Kostia bringing Paula to life.
Speculation about the movie surfaced earlier in the year, as it became known that Armstrong was developing an unnamed HBO film. It had been assumed that filming wouldn’t commence until late this year; however, it now seems that the project may have started earlier than initially anticipated.
Well, we should count ourselves lucky that it’s coming to screens sooner than we originally hoped!
Armstrong is famously recognized for his acclaimed contributions to the series Succession, in addition to collaborating on popular British television productions such as Peep Show and Fresh Meat.
For the first time, Armstrong steps into the role of a film director with Mountainhead, having previously been known for his songwriting and production contributions to successful music releases.
Armstrong will join forces with Frank Rich, Lucy Prebble, Jon Brown, Tony Roche, Will Tracy, Mark Mylod, and Jill Footlick as executive producers on the film. Many of these individuals have collaborated with Armstrong before, specifically during their work together on Succession.
Mountainhead will air on Sky and NOW on 1st June.
