The Opening of Emerald Witch Arc is as Rich in Artistic Direction as it is in Fairy Tale Themes
In this storyline, the events unfold during the 19th century in Britain, where the 13-year-old protagonist Ciel Phantomhive serves as the monarch’s enforcer, handling the shady dealings of the country’s underworld in conjunction with Sebastian Michaelis, his esteemed butler from the noble Phantomhive household. Upon the queen’s request, Ciel and Sebastian embark on a journey to Germany, investigating a bizarre, lethal occurrence. As they delve deeper, they are struck by a chilling curse while uncovering secrets about the ominous Werewolf Forest, rumored to bring misfortune and death to anyone venturing into its eerie woods.
In this creative reinterpretation, the song “MAISIE” by Cö shu Nie featuring HYDE is accompanied by a captivating blend of 2D and 3D artwork that echoes classic fables’ beauty. The narrative unfolds within an elaborate paper cut light box forest diorama, further enhancing the vintage fairy tale atmosphere. As the visuals progress, they become even more breathtaking with added 3D elements, vibrant color schemes, and intricate details reminiscent of Art Nouveau designs.
The story begins by introducing a fresh character, Sieglinde Sullivan, who finds herself tumbling into a glowing chasm, much like Alice’s descent down the rabbit hole. The video further introduces more characters as the soulful piano and electric guitar harmonize with the lyrics, expressing the liberation from the shackles of childhood fears, such as fearing the dark or being consumed by monsters.
