Jeff Ross is on the mend following an unexpected trip to the hospital, where he received treatment for his initial experience with an allergic response.
The humorist, often referred to as the Roastmaster General, posted about a disappointing encounter he had with an ice cream dessert on social media, including a picture showing the result – a puffed-up lower lip.
59-year-old posted on Instagram, April 6: “Give me criticism tonight’s show in Mill Valley, CA is a must! Had an amazing opening night performance for @takeabananafortheride at Throckmorton Theatre. Afterwards, I and the band enjoyed some Burrata ice cream courtesy of the generous restaurant owner.
Ross, known for appearing on numerous celebrity roasts on Comedy Central and the upcoming Netflix event The Roast of Tom Brady in 2024, went on to say, “It was scrumptious. Truly tasty. However, my lips swelled up, and I ended up spending the entire night in the emergency room. It was my first allergic reaction ever. I guess that’s quite remarkable given that I’m always stuffing whatever food is nearby into my mouth.
The comedian expressed gratitude to the staff working through the night at MarinHealth Medical Center for merely giving him a gentle ribbing. He also mentioned, “Despite resembling Mickey Rourke at the end of ‘The Wrestler’… I will be catching some z’s and returning to the stage in Mill Valley, close to San Francisco, at 7:30 pm tonight.
Jeff, starring in his latest one-man show titled “Take a Banana for the Ride“, had his picture shared on the Throckmorton Theatre’s Instagram Stories, accompanied by the caption, “Ignore how @therealjeffreyross appears, it’s even worse than it seems.
Jeff’s response to the ice cream incident is influenced by a different health predicament. Last year, the comedian unveiled during his stand-up shows that he had been diagnosed with cancer. He stated that his treatment has proven effective, but chose not to disclose further details, as reported in the Minnesota Star Tribune back in March.
He mentioned to the newspaper that while he doesn’t intend for the show to evoke excessive sentimentality, he feels it’s crucial to discuss his diagnosis during the performance. He clarified that he doesn’t wish for the audience to feel pity towards him, but rather, the presentation will serve as a strong and inspiring message about persevering through difficult circumstances.
During the Netflix special titled “Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year“, which Ross was hosting, John Stamos, his friend, acknowledged that the comedian had been through recovery and remission.
The actor from Full House, who lost his close friend and co-star Bob Saget last year, expressed to Ross, giving him a friendly cheek-kiss, “I can’t bear to lose any more of my dear friends like this, neither can the world.
In the Netflix special titled “Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year“, which Ross was hosting, John Stamos commented that the comedian had been recovering and was in remission. (Here, “had been” is used to indicate a past ongoing action, while “was” refers to the current state after recovery.)
The actor from Full House expressed this sentiment: “I can’t afford to lose any more comedic friends,” he told Ross, giving him a friendly cheek kiss. “Neither can the world.” (This version aims to convey the original sentiment in a natural and easy-to-read manner while also maintaining a similar tone and structure.)
