Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Titles Reportedly Have Separate Download Codes for Upgrades

Among various topics, Nintendo has sparked debates by unveiling Game Access Cards for the upcoming Switch 2. These cards, in essence, function like digital keys, allowing gamers to download a title which they need to keep inserted while playing.

In simpler terms, according to a Nintendo UK support team member who spoke on Twitter, the enhanced versions of games already available on the Nintendo Switch (Switch 2) aren’t included physically in the game cartridges. Instead, they come with separate codes for downloading the upgraded versions. However, it’s important to note that Nintendo hasn’t confirmed this yet, so there’s a chance the representative may have made an error in their statement.

In fact, it seems that when buying second-hand versions of these enhanced games, some users may find themselves needing to buy the update packs individually or subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, at least for a couple of games.

Keep an eye out for further updates and possible confirmations. It’s set to release the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5th, but the pre-orders are currently being postponed because of recent U.S. tariffs.
