Despite global anticipation for the Nintendo Switch 2, Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8 has been generating a lot of buzz. The highly-regarded fighting game recently released Season 2, but it faced intense criticism. On Steam alone, its recent reviews are predominantly negative, with only 11% of its 3,909 user reviews awarding it a positive rating.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! The dev team has acknowledged the feedback on Twitter and announced an emergency update, version 2.00.02, to rectify two unexpected glitches causing unblockable attacks for characters Paul and Jack-8. This fix is scheduled to drop in the heart of April, coinciding with a tweak that eliminates chip damage during throw breaks. I can hardly wait!
While the team tackles “uncovering and resolving the root problems behind character behavior glitches and an issue with the OPTIONS configuration,” they plan to keep refining their work based on community feedback in the upcoming update.
The strong reactions stem from several major changes to every fighter, making them stronger overall and resulting in more equal matches. Additionally, players are unhappy about the absence of promised defensive strategies during Season 2’s launch and a perceived gap between the game and its player base.
Keep an eye out as we reveal the launch date and specifics about the forthcoming update in the near future. The much-anticipated game, Tekken 8, will be playable on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers.
