Warning: This story contains spoilers for the season three finale of The White Lotus.
It was an ending as heartbreaking as any Greek tragedy.
In the final episode of “White Lotus” on April 6, Rick, played by Walton Goggins, tragically lost his life and that of his lover Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood), following a gunfight. The conflict started when Rick shot and believed he killed Jim Hollinger (Scott Glenn) in a sudden burst of anger. However, it was later revealed that Jim was actually Rick’s father.
For Aimee, both filming and then watching her character’s fate play out took a toll.
During the White Lotus post-finale panel at Four Seasons, presented by American Express, she mentioned, “It felt strange.” For nearly two weeks prior to filming, I had a strange sensation, an eerie and foreboding presence that lingered. I hadn’t anticipated this feeling lasting so long beforehand. Chelsea doesn’t know her fate, but I do. This strange sensation is because I’m aware of what’s going to happen to me.
Speaking about the finale, the 31-year-old stated, “It appeared just as it felt, which was quite peculiar. That entire sequence, I thought, ‘Yes, that’s precisely how it felt.’
Apart from Aimee discussing the contrast between various character outcomes, she touched upon the mixed emotions that arise when victories like Natasha Rothwell’s (Belinda) significant reward of $5 million are experienced against the backdrop of a tragic finale.
In a conversation, the star of Sex Education expressed, “That episode stirred up a lot of deep emotions within me right from the start, causing me to cry profusely. It’s remarkably crafted because at its conclusion, you’re left with the exhilaration of triumph. However, it subtly lingers, leaving you in this tender, poignant state. As a result, I find myself feeling quite tender.
In the tale of the Ratliff clan, their season almost turned disastrous when Timothy (Jason Isaacs) came close to causing harm to his family by serving them tainted piña coladas. To add insult to injury, Lochlan (Sam Nivola), unaware of the poison, blended some of the leftovers for himself the next morning. Fortunately, the youngest Ratliff miraculously recovered while in his father’s embrace—right as they were preparing to return home and confront the repercussions of Timothy’s ethical lapses in his profession.
For the trio consisting of Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan), Kate (Leslie Bibb) and Laurie (Carrie Coon), it appeared as if they were about to move past their troubles. However, a heartfelt revelation from Laurie served as a poignant reminder of their shared bond – each other.
Regarding Belinda, the prediction made by Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) from the first season ultimately materializes in a roundabout way. This happens when her late husband Gary/Greg (Jon Gries) transfers $5 million to Belinda to ensure she remains quiet about the enigmatic events surrounding Tanya’s demise.
Beyond Aimee, Patrick Schwarzenegger also found himself emotionally touched after the final episode. For him, it was quite a thrilling journey, mainly because he hadn’t been aware of the exact twists that were in store.
Patrick clarified that he was aware something had transpired with Chelsea, but wasn’t fully informed about the details. He described a strange sensation, as if he’d been closely interacting with many cast members and then witnessed someone’s demise. He found it difficult to express this feeling precisely. It seemed like a profound event had truly occurred.
He went on saying, “I hold immense affection towards Chelsea and Aimee, considering them from Saxon’s perspective. When it came to Chelsea, I found myself weeping in the theater. I glanced at Charlotte Le Bon, and she mirrored my feelings – it was a deeply emotional instant.
Indeed, the whole 90-minute finale was full of pulse-racing, emotional moments.
The Ratliff family faced a harrowing ordeal as Timothy (Jason Isaacs) nearly caused their demise by serving them poisoned piña coladas. Unaware of the danger, Lochlan (Sam Nivola) blended the leftovers into a smoothie for himself the next day. Remarkably, the youngest Ratliff survived and was revived by his father, allowing the family to return home and deal with the fallout from Timothy’s professional mistakes.
As for the trio – Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan), Kate (Leslie Bibb) and Laurie (Carrie Coon) – it appeared as if they were about to move past their struggles. However, a heartfelt admission from Laurie served as a poignant reminder of the importance they hold in each other’s lives.
Regarding Belinda, the pledge made by Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) from the first season ultimately materializes in a roundabout way. Specifically, after Tanya’s passing, her widower Gary/Greg (Jon Gries) transfers $5 million to Belinda to ensure her silence about the puzzling details surrounding Tanya’s demise.
For show writer and creator Mike White, the finale was an epic labor of love.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he expressed, “As a filmmaker, it’s likely the project that makes me think, ‘I can’t believe I accomplished that.’
For more about the cast of The White Lotus season three, keep reading.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to clarify that while my on-screen spouse on “The White Lotus” is portrayed by Parker Posey as Victoria Ratliff, my real-life partner is Emma Hewitt.
In 2020, he expressed in The Big Issue that without her, there’s no version of him that he recognizes or would care to meet.
In the 1980s, Jason crossed paths with a former documentary filmmaker at the University of London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. At that time, he was deeply entangled in a long-term relationship with drugs, a struggle he referred to as a “decade-long love affair.” He managed to break free from this addiction in 1998 when he achieved sobriety.
After I became clean, my wife expressed her relief by saying, “Now, finally, we can purchase a house and start a family,” Jason explained. “To which I replied, surprisingly, dear, it seems as though I’ve only just met you. What are you discussing? She responded, “We’ve been together for a decade!” I acknowledged, “Yes, I know, and I apologize, but I feel like I’ve just been reborn, and we need to go on dates and get to know each other again.
In response to his question about my attraction to someone seemingly lost in thoughts all the time, I replied by expressing that I admired the genuine version of him and the potential he held.
The couple wed in 2001 and welcomed daughters Lily and Ruby.
In 2008, Jason shared with The Guardian that she made the choice to abandon her thriving career, accompany me, live aimlessly in remote locations, and not fully integrate with the group, all in an attempt to conceive. Fortunately, we were able to achieve pregnancy through IVF, and it worked successfully on both occasions.
Fans have caught plenty of glimpses of Patrick Schwarzenegger in The White Lotus, but for the past ten years, he’s been pouring his heart out to his fiancée Abby Champion.
In 2015, Abby reminisced to The Daily Front Row about that memorable encounter with the actor who portrays Saxon in HBO’s drama. This meeting took place through a mutual friend whom Abby was on a date with, and Patrick happened to know. We are grateful for this friend as he facilitated our introduction, leading us to where we are today – engaged but not yet married. Patrick proposed to Abby on the beach in December 2023, and last September, he shared with GQ that they are preparing for a wedding in 2025.
The eldest child of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver has shared that his role is primarily about ensuring her happiness and fulfilling her desires. He also offers his opinions when needed but mainly focuses on supporting her and making each day exceptional for her. For now, they are content with their dynamic as each other’s top supporters. Patrick expressed pride in Abby during an Instagram tribute for her birthday, praising her dedication to family, friends, faith, and work, and expressing excitement about the future they will share together.
How did Sam Nivola and Iris Apatow meet? It wasn’t through some secret society of nepotism kids as he humorously suggested to British Vogue. Instead, it was a mutual friend who facilitated their meeting.
Although it’s amusing to imagine his parents—actors Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola—and hers—Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow—arranging their match, it was actually Isa Barrett who brought them together at a London bar.
As Sam recounted to Teen Vogue in February, he attempted to make a move on Iris (who played the younger sister of Olivia Munn’s character on The Perfect Couple), but she was in a relationship then and wasn’t interested.
However, after Iris ended her romance, Sam gave their relationship another chance. They went public with their relationship on Instagram in the spring of 2024 and have since moved in together.
“I’m so in love, and she’s so amazing,” Sam shared with Teen Vogue. “I think the thing about moving in with someone at our age is that we might worry about getting tired of each other. We’ll spend all day, every day together, and it might feel like a 30-year marriage. But I don’t think that would happen with her because we’re so much in love.
Leslie Bibb’s romance with Sam Rockwell didn’t originate at the White Lotus in Thailand, but rather in the Chateau Marmont lobby in West Hollywood. As she reminisced on The Rosie Show, she was about to dine with friends when someone waved at her from behind. Turning around, she found it was him. He was staying there because he was working on Frost/Nixon.
Their chemistry was immediate. “He smiled at me and I thought, ‘Oh no, what’s that?'” she shared. “Sometimes you just get struck.”
Leslie and Sam went on their first date about a week later. Initially, the Talladega Nights actress attempted to feign disinterest in a serious relationship with the Oscar winner, but her genuine feelings soon became apparent. “I was like, ‘I’m really not into anything,'” she added, “and then I think three weeks later, I was like, ‘I love you so much.'”
Today, the unmarried couple is still going strong. For their October 2023 anniversary, Leslie wrote on Instagram, “Sweet sixteen sammy…was this from the first year, maybe the second, who knows we were babies and all the time is flying by and blurring into one helluva a ride with you…I feel very lucky to get to love this human and even luckier to be loved by him.
During her chats about friends on The White Lotus, Jaclyn Lemon is known to speak negatively. In stark contrast, Michelle Monaghan consistently speaks positively about her spouse Pete White. She will forever cherish his assistance when she filmed an intimate scene with Tom Cruise for Mission: Impossible III just a few days after their marriage in 2005.
“I had just gotten married and skipped my honeymoon to start the film immediately,” Michelle shared with Collider in 2023. “Then I remember going to work, and Tom and I had an intimate scene, and of course that was the first scene. After work, I came home, nervous as can be, and my husband reassured me, saying, ‘Don’t worry, you’ll follow his lead. You’re going to have a great time. It’s going to be wonderful.'”
Following the successful scene, Pete was ecstatic. “He said, ‘How cool is it that you were making out with Tom Cruise on our honeymoon?'” Michelle recalled. “Because we’re just such fans.”
As she pointed out, “That shows what kind of man I married – one who has been incredibly supportive and excited about my achievements.” No matter what challenges life brings their way, including raising children Willow and Tommy, Michelle and Pete work as a team.
“My husband and I check in with each other weekly on Sundays,” she revealed to Lifeminute in 2017. “We ask each other, ‘What are your priorities for this week? What can I help you achieve or make time for you to do, whether it’s personal time or time working towards our own goals?’
Despite the fact that Carrie Coon’s character Laurie travels to Thailand with friends Kate and Jaclyn in The White Lotus, her true best friend is her real-life husband, Tracy Letts. They first met while working together on Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? in 2010. Tracy won a Tony Award for his role as George, while Carrie was nominated for her portrayal of Honey. The couple got married three years later following an unexpected ceremony in a hospital after Carrie’s emergency gallbladder surgery. In 2018, they had their first son, Haskell, and welcomed a daughter (whose name hasn’t been disclosed) three years later. To this day, the two remain happily married, putting an end to rumors of an open marriage after Carrie clarified her statement about being “open-minded” rather than “open.
Walton Goggins credits a friend with introducing him to his wife, Nadia Conners. As he shared on The View, this friend heard the director talking with friends at an L.A. restaurant in 2005 and urged her to join a dinner the following night to meet Walton. During the dinner, meant to raise money for a film, Walton assumed Nadia was one of the business associates. When they sat down, she turned her back on everyone else at the table and asked about him instead. They spent the entire evening sharing their stories. Walton admitted he didn’t speak to anyone as planned, but by the end of the night, Nadia asked if he would take her home. Once there, she requested that he ask for her number, which he did. The couple welcomed son Augustus in 2011 and married the same year (Walton was previously married to Leanne Goggins). In a February Instagram post, the TV star expressed his deep affection for his family, stating “I love you both beyond measure.” He plays Rick Hatchett opposite Aimee Lou Wood’s Chelsea on The White Lotus.
It seems there’s some confusion regarding Tayme Thapthimthong’s character and Lisa from The White Lotus. Despite the fact that her character feels drawn to Mook, it appears that Lisa, who is also known as a member of Blackpink, might be in a relationship with Frédéric Arnault, a French businessman.
Although neither party has confirmed the relationship rumors, they’ve been generating dating speculation for quite some time now. In fact, back in November 2022, Frédéric shared pictures of himself attending a Blackpink concert. Since then, people have noticed them spending time together and traveling. While he’s made an effort to catch her performances and attend premieres, she’s been present at the 2024 TAG Heuer Formula 1 Kith Launch Celebration.
Moreover, in her song “Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me),” Lisa sings about a “green-eyed French boy” who seems to have captivated her.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, allow me to share an intriguing update: While my character Valentin remains single in the realm of fiction, I, Arnas Fedaravicius, have found myself deeply admiring Emeraude Toubia in reality.
It’s been over a year since her divorce from Prince Royce was announced in March 2022, but it seemed that our paths crossed around 2023, hinting at something more than just professional camaraderie.
Although we’ve mostly kept our romance under wraps, the occasional Instagram post and a shared trip to Thailand for filming have given us away. The ‘gram is where I found her support and encouragement, with her words echoing, “From one amazing moment to the next! So proud of you, @arnasfederman! Thank you for bringing me along on this unforgettable ride.”
This relationship, while private, has indeed been an extraordinary adventure.
Later on, it’s expected that Pam might ask to borrow your phone right after checking into the White Lotel. However, Morgana O’Reilly, who portrays Pam, wasn’t hesitant about utilizing her device to share this charming picture of herself and husband Peter Salmon.
Though they attended Unitec in New Zealand, they initially crossed paths in New York City. In a 2022 interview for their alma mater’s website, Morgana shared, “It was surreal because we fell in love in New York City, worked in the same profession, and had numerous mutual friends, yet we never really encountered each other despite our similarities.”
Subsequently, they tied the knot and became parents to Luna and Ziggy. But their family is not their only joint venture. In 2020, the Neighbours actress and director collaborated on the series Inside. More recently, they transformed her stage production Stories About My Body into a movie.
Morgana penned on Instagram in August, “Me and this man have just created a film about our love story and the birth of our children (among other tales), Mr. Salmon. Your talent never ceases to amaze me. The creation of this artistic child has left me in awe of you all over again.
On-screen, Jon Gries’ character Greg Hunt (known as Gary in season three) was wed to Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya McQuoid until her demise in season two (Rest in Peace). However, behind the scenes, the actor has very recently gotten married.
In a March 4 video for Harper’s Bazaar, Jon shared that his fiancée, whose identity he kept secret, is now his wife as of last Friday. This hinted that one of his most recent Google searches might have been directions to their courthouse wedding.
It’s best not to consider the White Lotus for your honeymoon destination.
