Rainbow Six Might be Getting a New Turn-Based Tactics Game – Rumour

As I eagerly await the June 10 drop of Rainbow Six Siege X from Ubisoft, there’s an exciting whisper in the gaming community: they might just have another gem brewing! Word on the street, straight from Tom Henderson at Insider Gaming, hints at a new addition to our beloved franchise – a tactical, turn-based game set in the Rainbow Six universe. It’s all speculation for now, but the anticipation is real!

As per the recent update, the camera perspective for the upcoming title is depicted as a bird’s-eye view, reminiscent of games like XCOM and Diablo 4. In terms of gameplay, an insider has hinted that it will share striking resemblances with XCOM, suggesting that viewing some XCOM gameplay would provide a good understanding of the game mechanics, as it’s essentially an enhanced version of XCOM, complete with cinematic cutscenes and additional features.

In this game, you’ll command a team of unique operatives, each with distinct skills, to complete various mission tasks. The strategy often involves selecting operatives based on the nature of the objectives at hand. Ubisoft aims to create a campaign that should keep you engaged for approximately 25 to 30 hours before it’s completed.

It’s expected that the title is being created within a recently established Ubisoft subsidiary based in France, which was announced in March. This subsidiary has a 25% minority share owned by Tencent, who invested €1.16 billion. This subsidiary will manage some of Ubisoft’s most prominent franchises, such as Rainbow Six.

In terms of “Rainbow Six Siege”, a significant free update is on its way, introducing numerous modifications to the competitive game. This includes enhancements to gameplay and the engine, plus fresh abilities such as the ability to traverse walls horizontally using rappel lines, and new environmental interaction possibilities.

A significant aspect of the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege X update is focused on setting up additional obstacles for hackers and cheaters. To accomplish this, stronger anti-tamper measures are being implemented, such as the introduction of R6 ShieldGuard, which reinforces the encryption of the game’s executable files for each player. For more information, be sure to read our coverage on the announcement.

In addition to Rainbow Six Siege X, the Dual Front 6-on-6 game mode will be included. This mode merges attackers and defenders on both sides, resulting in a larger combat arena where both teams must accomplish objectives on their opponent’s side while simultaneously guarding their own.

In the game Dual Front, the roster of playable Operators will continuously change and adapt; however, Ubisoft hasn’t specified how often these changes will occur. Yet, they have promised to keep the new gameplay mode engaging by offering players new match-ups regularly. For comprehensive information about this game mode, take a look at the coverage provided.

In simple terms, “Rainbow Six Siege X” is an upcoming free expansion for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. This expansion will make the game available to play for free, meaning that new players won’t need to purchase a copy once it’s released; they can join right away!
