Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., Ryan Phillippe, and Johnny Galecki star in this chilling story of adolescent terror. Following a car accident on a winding road, the four teens commit a tragic mistake by throwing their fellow passenger’s body into the ocean. A year later, their dark secret returns to haunt them as they are pursued by a hook-wielding figure seeking retribution for more than just an apology…

The upcoming revival shares the fundamental concept with its predecessor, taking place within the same fictional world, but disregards subsequent films and the brief TV series. It centers around five companions who, unintentionally, are involved in a deadly car crash and devise a plan to hide their guilt. However, someone appears to be aware of their summertime secret and threatens vengeance with a gruesome twist a year down the line. Amidst this turmoil, they learn that similar brutal incidents have transpired previously in Southport, prompting them to reach out to the survivors from the 1997 film titled “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Ray Bronson (Freddie Prinze Jr.), for assistance.

The I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot is slated for release on July 18, 2025.
