After the launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac Games has been secretly developing their next project – Marvel’s Wolverine. In response to a post on platform X, the studio has made clear they aren’t prepared to discuss the game just yet.
The studio announced that they won’t disclose information about “Marvel’s Wolverine” until everything is set. Since the game is still in development, sharing details prematurely might necessitate additional time, resources, and approval to do so, which is why they can’t answer questions from curious fans at this moment.
The studio shared that they’re currently developing “Marvel’s Wolverine” specifically for PS5. They promised to reveal updates about the game once they feel it’s appropriate to do so, which has always been their practice.
Not every request we receive can be acted upon immediately due to time constraints, resource availability, and the need for approval.
Essentially, Chad Dezern, one of the co-studio heads, reiterated in an interview back in January that while Insomniac Games is eager to share more about the game, they must wait for the perfect moment. In the interim, as Dezern suggested, the team needs to adopt Wolverine’s approach and maintain a calm demeanor.
I’m bursting with enthusiasm to discuss Wolverine, but just like Logan, I must maintain a steady demeanor for now. We’ve got a lot brewing, but it’s not quite time to unleash the claws yet. So, while I can barely contain my excitement, I have to hold back and share more about our upcoming projects at an appropriate moment.
Previously, the studio hinted at disclosing additional information about Marvel’s Wolverine when the moment was opportune. As of May 2024, they expressed on social media that they would unveil news only when the appropriate time arrives, and as of now, it seems that time has not yet come.
During the progress of Marvel’s Wolverine, news emerged in October 2024 suggesting that the project received a new creative leader following Brian Horton’s exit from the studio. Since then, he has assumed the position of creative director for Perfect Dark at studio The Initiative.
As per the latest news, Marcus Smith is now serving as the creative director for Marvel’s Wolverine. Simultaneously, Mike Daly has assumed a new position as game director on this project. The two have previously collaborated as directors on Insomniac’s Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.
Ever since Marvel’s Wolverine was first announced in 2021, there hasn’t been much official information disclosed about the game. However, we do know that it will be set within the same universe as Insomniac’s Spider-Man games. Despite this connection, the story of Marvel’s Wolverine is expected to be a self-contained narrative with minimal crossover points with the stories from the Spider-Man titles.
The game “Wolverine” from Marvel is currently being worked on for the PlayStation 5. There’s talk suggesting that Insomniac Games could be aiming for a release in 2026, though an official announcement about this hasn’t been given yet.
Currently, we’re diligently developing Marvel’s Wolverine for PlayStation 5. Rest assured, we’ll disclose information about the game as soon as we feel it’s appropriate. This is a consistent approach we follow.
As a gamer, I understand that not every request can be addressed immediately due to the time, resources, and approval needed to share information or implement changes.
